I've been having trouble getting the ball as far as i want to. Right now my stick is 12d, open sidewall, 2 straights and a U. Ill get some pics up. I throw over and on the follow through it has been hitting the top and going left. If I throw it more sidearm like 3/4 it goes straight but not hard or far. Need help either with changing stick or form.

well for one 12d should not be open sidewall, unless your didnt stretch the mesh before stringing it your pocket would be way to deep to preform. if your hitting the scoop of your stick either try tighting the top of the mesh up more, by tighting the sidewalls or tighting the shooting strings.

Well, as a goalie, you should be using your hips a lot, and twisting your upper body like a golfer to throw. Also, take a step during your throw, like you were throwing a baseball. The combination of those two should help you throw much much farther.

also if your stick still hits top put a sidewall string as tight as you can at the top of the mesh. I stopped using hockey laces years ago because they always came lose and i had a bad experance with my stick acting up in a close game that was caused by the hockey lace.

If you can, post pics of your stick. I'm sure some of the other goalies on here and myself will be able to help you out once we see what we're working with.
*Tighten your top shooter
*If you use three shooters, try three
*Tighten your top wall
*When you string your stick, have the top of your mesh almost on top of the front of the top of the stick (basically, make sure the top of your mesh isn't behind the stick, making it run into the plastic)
*Wall ball until you're comfortable with it
*If you're trying to just gilman it downfield, I would suggest whipping it about 3/4 underhand and releasing on the way up
Note: 12D should be closed sidewall, because an open siewall usually gives it more whip. I just re-read your original post.
