i was just looking at all the bruises and cuts after my game today and i realized how much i hate all those prick dmen who just slash the crap out of you, and they dont even aim for your stick. I have a pretty big cut on my ankle from one kid. i was going to the cage and i got slashed in the ankle. how do you even pretend that you were aiming for the stick? I have a bruise from a shaft on my shin. again, how do u hit my shin while aiming for my stick? I mean if you slash me in the leg or hip im not gonna drop the ball and its gonna make me more inclined to cheap shot you when you try and clear. i play clean D 99% of the time but there is the times when kids like that make me mad enough where im just gonna aim for where they have no pads. Im just venting but if any d men have a reason for doing stuff like this or attack who get frustrated by this just post away

It's kind of annoying, but I always get even.

this is my reasoning. if they slash, come up and crank a shot. i'm not saying shoot at their helmet, but ring one off. it always works for me...

My arms are black and blue after games....They way I get even is beating them one on one :agree: ....it just makes them that much more angry.

What are you guys talking about??? This is one of the few, if only sport, where you are allowed to bash on eachother with sticks!!! Well duh your going to get bruised in the arm, you taking chops from a metal pole there! Pain is a good thing to have in lacrosse, same with bruises. It shows your coach you have been working hard.

I actually had a coach this year express concern to the Referee that my players played too hard in his opinion. The Ref, God bless his soul and may his first child be a masculine one, simply looked aghast at the coach and told him, "IT'S LACROSSE!" with a great touch of anger and sarcasm. I absolutely despise the parents and coaches who are trying to remove all physicality from the sport. I am not talking about cheap shots, but legal checks. If the defensemen you are angry at did not draw a penalty for their actions, then no penalty occured.

I play defense, and while some of the injuries you sustained are a bit odd (on the ankle? WTF?) I can assure you hitting stick 100% is nothing but easy. Since you guys are constantly hiding the stick, it becomes harder for us to get to it. For instance, I am left handed, and most attack men and middies are right handed, so my slap check is usually being used, and it's pretty hard to get your stick in there I tell ya! Poke checks I usually just annoy the bottom hand though.

guys im not complaining that it hurts. i wear barely any pads so its not like i go out there and expect to not get hit. i dont mind bruises all over my arms and hips and chest. All im saying is that how the heck do you hit somebody in the ankle and expect them to drop the ball? theres no way im dropping the ball if you hit me in the ankle. go ahead and slash teh crap out of my arms if you feel its gonna help but why in the world would you start hitting people in the legs?

Here's how you probably got cut on your ankle. You and a couple other guys are going for a ground ball, and you put your foot out over the ball so you can get your body between the ball and the man, and one of the other people steps with their cleats on your leg, causing you to get bruised and cut up. it happens to me like 3 times a game. I alomst never have uncut legs after a game

Don't come crying to us, this is part of attacking.

What you have to remember is that every time you lose the ball, and the defense is trying to clear it, you get your chance for revenge.

Note also that these d-men often don't think they need proper arm pads or rib pads......this is an excellent opportunity to show them that they do!

Ride hard, no mercy!

are you just backing into defensemen and letting them slash you? are you running back and forth letting them beat on you?? I just don't get it..

I think I get what he is saying and I hate it to.

When a defense men plays just to hurt you and slashes you in the ankles and poke checks you in the back of you leg.

Thats what I hate, they don't care about getting the ball but just try to hurt you.

yeah thats it. i mean yeah i dont mind bruises or cuts but i hate the guys who just play to try to hurt you.

I cut my ankle driving to the net. i beat one guy and then while hes still trying to stickcheck me i rolled around the second guy and shot. somewhere in there is when i got hit in the ankle. one of the two dmen hit me there. this morning it actually hurt to walk and is pretty swollen but after running around at practice it feels much better now.

Rockstar- Im ranting, not crying. crying would be saying "oh they hit me too hard". i dont care how hard you hit me as long as it at least seems like youre attempting to go for the ball but once you start just trying to hurt me im gonna get annoyed. i dont expect dmen to hit stick at all but i expect them to hit my arms or stick or shoulder, not my legs.

on the contrary, I hate the little prick attackmen who take out their pent up rage and frustration on my biceps as I bring the ball up on a clear, or a groundball or whatever..

I actually just got a bruise on my knee today from a kid going wild with checks. And I can't stand when they go for your hips on purpose but its part of the game. I also have a swolen ankle from picking up a groundball and got check right on the bone.

slashing you in the legs is to scare you. If I slash the attackman in the legs I'm telling him that he better not try to play me again.

This is not a threat, it's a promise:

Slash me in the legs, and you're getting it back triple.....that is as soon as I catch both refs looking the wrong way.

its lacrosse...you will always get bruised up after a game...
unless its a cheap shot then suck it up...he gets a few shots in and ive never met an attackman that didnt treat me like a punching bag when i got the ball...its give and take...
and dont be an idiot and crank one at a dman just because he bruised your arm...just do it back to him...
many checks that cause these bruises are clean...we are checking and you move the stick...
now about your ankle...well that is odd...was there a tripping penalty called? was it on a GB?

welcome to lacrosse. when i was an attackman in high school i wore them like badges of honor. chicks dig scars especially if you got one on the way to the goal. the day after games i used to have plenty of stories to tell along with visual aids. it sucks when you get hit, but hit back. dont be poonanny, if you know what i mean.

right but its just not right to show off a scar when you have to take off your shoe and sock to let people see it. i guess most people dont get what im trying to say with this so think what you want about me

At my game last night my defender hit me in the stomach for no reason (I was 10 feet away from the ball). I let him get it and then I winded up and slashed him in the back. It was almost at the end of the quarter, and during the next corner he was sitting on the bench crying. :) I also scored my first goal last night.

we had a drill in practice that the attack/ mids had to dodge 3 D in a row. I was 3rd in row( i play D) and when they got to me all were just B!tching and pissed about the drill. It was pretty annoying. but i understand where thewre coming from.

No, you'll be seen as a prick and hit even harder. Someone comes at me and my defense knows to take care of him.

the best way to get even with a defender is to plant the ball in the back of the net

He's not complaining about the pain or the bruises. But that defensemen are basically wasting energy hitting attackmen in the hips because it doesn't make them drop the ball.
I really don't understand why they do it because when they do it jst to hi=urt me i make a goal To make that kid feel my pain threefold.

The other day I had a game and also got hit in the ankle. What happened was I was doing a one on one and I was one handed cradling, brought my hand with the stick back(extended my arm out) a little, and the D tryed to stick check me but I quickly brought it back in. Unfortunately in the process I got hit in the ankle when I quickly moved my stick. It's all good though, I took it in and sniped one  . I am kinda bad at explaining things. Sorry :thumbsdow

I've got 2 things to say. First (& people on this site will vouge for me) off I'm not a "slap check crazy" defender. I barely if ever throw slap checks. Someone's trying to get a quick stick or cutting slap checks work great but if someone is driving they do almost nothing. A lift or poke is much more efficient in my opinion however even though I don't throw many slap checks I nailed a fellow teammate in the legs yesterday. I threw a Ding-Dong (act like you're going over the head they bring they're stick forward & instead of going oevr you come back down) & he did a good job at still protecting his stick so when I came back down I didn't get the check however I got a large chunk of leg. If they're doing it on purpose as others have said get over it
My second thing to say is if they're doing it on purpose 9 out of 10 times you can beat them/embaress them all up & down the field. On almost any time I've played on or against the guys that rely souly on slap checks are the ones that ALWAYS get beat. I know tons of guys that throw slap checks & don't get beat but they use all sorts of checks w/ the slap & aren't out there just to break someones bones. Next time a defender is throwing these crazy/point less checks hang your stick behind you while running (as if you were going to shoot even if you're not) more then likely he'll go over your head to get the stick & then you just tuck your stick & run past him. If he doesn't fall for this then try getting a pick set (he'll be to preoccupied to realise what happened) or just wait for him to get off balance when he commits in to a slap check to much & burn him.

I absorb the pain and let him hit me. They never get my stick though. They only seem to slash me.
