View Full Version : The Perfect Pocket.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I give to you my first custom, the perfect pocket. The name is not in any way misleading, this is the singlehanded best pocket i have every played with.
The pocket is so soft when you catch the ball its just so solid. You dont even have to give at all, the pocket does the work.
A great great deal of hold and a perfect minimal whip passing comes with it.

It is shallow unless you cradle...its good like that. The leathers look crooked because they are loose. The pocket is so soft as a result and also results in a nice solid catch.

It is my game head.

A week in all, the sidewalls were unique so it took me a while to think it up, I based it off the concept pocket.

Incredible. Minimal whip, just enough. You can feel the ball release but it doesnt touch the plastic at all. Alot of hold too.
Pretty much you can alter it's pocket within a minute. Just pound it whereever you want and it will stay there until you change it again.

Looks really good. I like how you finished the channel at the bottom with 2 holes in the leathers, like Rock-it Pocket does. Also, good choice of head to string it in. You should have pinched it a little first though. That would have been siiick.

I bet you saw something different, my sidewalls and top string are different than anything Ive ever seen. INcluding the pics you posted.
Plus I finished through holes in the leather at the bottom.

Srry to say "buddy" but none of ur pics have the topstring in them :nut:
And tying though the leathers does effect preformance. Try again maybe ull make some better that u can call ur own.

The reason your leathers are bunched up and crooked is because you tied your knots too tight. This is a common mistake for beginning trad stringers. If you have a little extra string, untie it and use it and just sort of distribute a little more string through each tie-off. You will find the pocket is more "free" if you do this

No one was suggesting you were trying to steal someone elses pocket they were just informing you that it had been done. There really arent that many pockets that havent been done. It also reminds me of the concept pocket. It is a good pocket just nothing " incredible". The topstring is a good idea

Actually I got the idea from a thing on e-lacrosse where he said he could take his pita variation out of his head and easily transfer it to another. Thats what i originally went for but this is what it ended up evovling into.

Dude, I've been playing with a Perfect Pocket since 2000. I freakin LOVE that pocket. I forget the name of the company that makes it, but I know Stylin-Strings.com has a similar pocket.
If any of you find out which company does that, please let me know, cause I want all my heads done with the Perfect Pocket. That thing has been my salvation. It got me through college.

Is it indeed patented? Because if it is just a pocket that anyone can string and doesn't belong to someone, I'd love to add it as an option on Quik Stik Lacrosse...but I don't want to upset anyone, so someone let me know if they know anything about it before I do it.

T-fog? nope, I was just on that website. They do however have a pocket that lookes exactly like a rock-it pocket, except with crosses as the track (look under products at the "traditional II" pocket).

I love how this kid got so defensive because his pocket was "totally original" and that he had "never seen it before".
I also like how he named it "the perfect pocket", when in actuallity, there was already a pocket called "the perfect pocket" that was exactly the same.

Well in that that thread posted it is not the same as mine because though he does run a string across the top, I attach my crosslace to it.
And it was my friend that gave it the name the perfect pocket.

If I had to bet I would say that you absolutely did not string that pocket. Bacharach sold that pocket for years before they closed, and it was called the perfect pocket. Several of my teammates used that pocket in high school. Your "custom job" is strung exactly the way bacharach did it all the way down to the topstring, brown leathers, and shooters (type of shooters, and the way they're done). Don't try and pass it off as your own unless you're the guy that started them at bacharach back in the late '90s. You've been found out dude, why don't you actually come up with your own design next time.

The saddest part is that he didn't even string it himself and try to pass it off as his own design, he just plain took a strung head from somewhere else and pretended he did all the work. It's like instead of me plagiarizing Mark Twain, I just grabbed a copy of Huckleberry Finn and said "hey, read this great book I just wrote!"

I considered not calling him out for this very reason. However, I am 100% sure that he didn't string that pocket himself. He can tell me that he did it until he's red in the face, but that won't make it true.

You have some solid reasons for not believing that it's his or that he even strung it, and personally, I believe that you're right, I just can't think of any reason why he would take a pocket strung and invented by someone else and try and pass it off as his own when it wasn't to impress people on the internet, especially since he will never actually meet most of them.

I'm as bewildered as you are, but that's exactly what he did. It's the same thing as the rediculous claims in the "what's your (shot speed, 40 speed, max bench) threads". Apparently being cool on the internet is almost as good as being cool in real life.

My personal opinion He had seen the pocket but since he added the topstring it was different in his opinion . For most of the people on the forums this is not enough to pass the pocket off as his own, but it seems as if it was for him. Just my take on it. I dont know why he would try to pass it off as his own. He has been here long enough that you cant fool alot of the tlf vetrens. People remember stuff and you simply wont get away with something like this. I dont think he was trying to get e-props for this. I think he honestly think the topstring makes it entirely his

The top string was part of the original Bacharach design for the Perfect Pocket. The stick in the pictures was strung by Bacharach, no doubt about it. Bacharach used to use those exact type of hockey laces and they were strung in that particular way. They also used brown leathers, and put athletic tape towards the top of the leathers, which can be seen in the pictures of the top string he posted. Lastly, that's how Bacharach did the sidewall string in that pocket as well. This kid didn't string that stick, I am 100% certain of that.

yeah the top was done exactly that way i dont know if bacharach patented it tho i dont know much about bacharach. i have only seen one in my life and it wasnt done by bacharach, it had white leathers and all, i think the one i saw was made by someone at pro pockets
