http://www.laxpower.com/update06/binboy/XNRDMA.PHP i was looking at the lax power high school scoreboard to see what my team's final was, and there were only two scores up. one was 90-0. i thought it must have been a typo but both teams pages have the same score in the game. anyone know anything about this? and if it is true what a dick move by the coach to go 90 to nothing. that's ridiculous

I thought there was some "rule" type thing where if you are ahead by 10 your not supposed to score anymore? IDK thats what some ref was telling us once.

I think that's a local rule, not a NFHS one.
AKA the "mercy" rule.

yeah 25-0 was the worst beating this year... and the best team didnt actually play the worst team...

here in oregon... if you are ahead by 12 goals then it goes to running time.

here in oregon... if you are ahead by 12 goals then it goes to running time.it is just bad sportsmanship to continue scoring on team if they are ahead by like 5. in addition they also dont get any thing accomplished by continueing to reck a team. the winning team should pl;ay the kids who dont get to play much or who are younger to build up game experience

we have rivals, so we spank them. we beat tottenville 14-5 and cardozo 14-4. and we like stats, so when we have the chance we'll rack up 15-1 vs richmond or 16-0 against curtis

I disagree, I would rather lose to a team thats trying its hardest all game, than lost to a team who dicks around and rubs it in by putting in all freshman. Also when teams start not trying or putting in worse players, it's a bad situation for those kids because they're playing against a team who is losing by a lot and generally those teams start head hunting. It's a bad situation for both teams, but I would personally rather play a team who is trying all game.

What the heck!!! How is that team 2-10 with an 85 PR? There schedule is decent, not strong though.

completely true, I hate standing there in goal hearing the other teams coach tell his team not to shoot, If were gonna lose, I want to lose against the full team for the full game

its a NFHS rule for running time once one team is up by 12 goals

The 10 goal thing is on Lax power...they stop counting goals after 10, so if you win by 10, it will count the same as winning by 100

Not true. My team beat one team by 12, but the difference predicted was 15, so it actually hurt them for some reason.

when you say richmond, do you mean richmond shock?

scruffy221, I see that you are from Virginia, are you refering to the Loudoun Valley v. Wakefield game?

90 goals is over 1 goal a minute

5 goals is nothing. It just go to running time after 10 or 12 goals.

90 goals= playing 12 minute quarters thats around 1 goal every .53 seconds. remeber that in most leagues there is a running clock after a 10 or 12 goal lead there is even less time. 90 goals is impossible.

Brady
05-16-2006, 10:13 AM
Not for nothing, but by my math 60 seconds per minute multiplied by 48 minutes = 2880 seconds per game / 90 goals would be about one goal every 32 seconds. So allowing for the high school mercy rule of running clocks after a 12 goal lead there is still plenty of time to average a goal every 32 seconds.

That being said, that was clearly a typo.

no one could score that much. although our faceoff guy has this crazy crank and a couple times he has won the faceoff and just cranked it from right outisde the attack box if thers no d right on him.

well my HS roomate once scored 3 goals in about 15 seconds, so it is theoretically possible, but quite unlikely.

I've been involved in 2 games that had over a 30 pt. differential. One on each side, both in the same day, but 90 goals would be INSANE.

3 years ago, a kid from my school scored 10 goals in a game agians Peter Collucini, who now plays at syracuse. Its not like Collucini was a freshman either, he was a junior.

that's sick. i read the first half and was like, yea well my friend's older brother scored 10 before..but against collucini, a well established d1 player...that is pretty dang impressive

Here if you are up by 10 or more goals the other team automatically gets the ball off of the face-off.
