couple nights ago in the last game of the season, i was playing d and there was a big scrum for a ground ball about 10 yards in front of the cage. the ball got popped up high into the air somehow and i managed to snag it with my longpole; as i was still looking up to catch the ball, i got absolutely RAILED by someone from the other team and it took me about 5 seconds to realize what happened. it was a full on helmet to helmet blindside hit. i didnt realize it but i had a huge cut on my face and one of the the attackman i was on kindly informed me that there was blood all over my face. i got called out of the game to clean off the blood. after i got back from urgent care and got 4 stitches for the battlewound on my cheek, i noticed that my facemask was totally bent and crooked and my helmet barely fit on my head it was so screwed up.
has anyone else ever been hit so hard or hit someone so hard that it yielded broken equipment?

Just out of curiosity, what kind of helmet was it? Brand, condition, age, length of use, etc.

Umm this sould be in the Equipment forum not the high school forum.
I put a massive crack in my Stryke Infinity a few years ago after taking a shot to the head when i was playing goals.

i have tons of ships outta the paint and scuffs from kids hitting me in the head.
The other day we were playing a game and this kid winds up for a crank shot so i jumped in front of it, the face mask bar was bent way down sortta in the shape of a ball

My friend cracked his nose and bent and disconnected his facemask and visor on his CPX. He went head to head w/ a kid and he was doing the hitting.
Another guy did the same except without the nose crack...

Someone on my team got hit and his facemask got knocked and was really crooked, and the other goalie had the visor broken his helmet from 3 shots at practice once.

I got helmet to helmet'd or elbow to helmet'd, I don't exactly remember, by a wingman when scooping on a faceoff, there was no damage to my almost NEW CPX, by the way. They got possession and after being flipped over, I ran to get back on D.
We somehow landed a penalty and they stepped out of the box. I call myself out and go, "It feels like blood.". At first it had felt like sweat, but I figured it wasn't.
When I pulled off my helmet it started dripping onto it and everyone was like, "Sick, you're bleeding." The cut was right on my left eyebrow.
My coach called the other team's trainer (away game) and he cleaned me up and put a bandage on it, but said that I'd need stitches, and that he couldn't really let me play unless my dad said it was alright, and not until at least the second half. My dad, obviously, shows up late, and I call him over, and he said I could go back in, so I did.
We sat in the emergency waiting room while watching the GMU-Florida Basketball game in the Final Four.
I ended up getting 5 stiches right on the eyebrow, but it's now healed and there's just a small scar that's mostly concealed by the eyebrow.
So yeah, I guess a similar story to yours in the needing stiches part, but my helmet didn't damage.

how does this happen?THis is almost exactly what happened to my friend. He got pushed from behind so hard and hit the ground. When he got up blood was dripping out of a massive cut on his nose.

The force itself can cause the skin to break, as can it rubbing or scraping against the helmet's padding.

our goalie cracke the visor on his CPX, right down the middle. Got hit in the face with a shot.

A kid on my team checked a kid, and busted the bolt that connects the cage to the visor, so it kind of looked like he cracked his helemt in half.
