In practice going for a ground ball, there was already a dent and someone just finished the job. I've still got the one year warranty so it's all good.

It was hard but it snapped real clean and real quick, it seems to dent pretty easily though.

so wonderboys r pretty weak?

I'd say they are alot better than Aluminum but not quite as strong as like C405 or DB803.

theyre a lot weaker than people think... two kids on my team have already broken theirs within a month of buying them. they are nice while they last... and at least they come with a warrenty

Those walls on it look really thin.... Like uber thin. Thats what sucks about modern shafts... Soooo much denting due to companys skimping on material. The STX c405 custom alloy and Brine F series are like the best simply because their walls are thicker and strong, yet the shafts themselves still stay reasonably light. But that sucks for your wonderboy. Yay for warrantees.

I am so glad that I just got another Field Attack, I could have gotten a wonderboy. Seems like I made the right choice.

How light are those anyways (like exact, in ounces)? If they aren't lighter than the db803, then what is the point of even buying one?

I don't think anyone here should be making any speculations about the strength of the wonderboy shafts. Any shaft, not matter what it is made of can break. I've seen aluminum snap titanium in a game. A defender, using his back up pole in a game (head snapped on his other stick), went for a ground ball. As he was scooping an attackman with titanium checked the pole, which was at a 45 degree angle against the ground, and the titanium shaft just got sliced in half like butter against a hot knife. Is titanium better than aluminum? Definitely. Was it just one of those chance happening? Yes. When a shaft gets a good check it creates a weak spot, whether you can see the dent of not, and if that that spot is weak enough, and get's hit in that spot again, or more likely hit multiple times, it's going to cause the shaft to break.

However, with a naming the shaft "wonderboy", after the bat from The Natural, the shaft is destined to break.

A gimmick is something that is designed to seem cool, but isn't actually practical.

This has been a bad week for the U16 Yeti team that would be the second broken shaft. The other one being an F-15, I never thought I would see the day someone snapped and F-15 in half.

lol, i have my wonderboy D-pole as my back-up stick. I would throw poke checks with it and i was so damn light that it would just slip right through my hands. I was also very head heavy w/ my X2 on it. Now i just use my Warrior C405 w/ my X2 and my torque on the wonderboy..... I would most definately not recommend this stick as a d-pole

hey guys, stop bashing the wonderboy. i have one, and i love it. i have had it for quite a few months now, and it only has one small dent in it after at least 7-10 games and that amount of time worth of practices.

06-18-2006, 07:44 PM
yea i had one as a d pole not a great idea. broke not long after gettin it. It broke like 3 days ago when i took a shot and hit another kids stick. I had no dents in it. It was a pretty good stick cuz it was light but personaly i think they break pretty easy. I dont mean to hijack this thread but how is the weight on the DB803 and C405 compared to the wonderboy? I really like a light d shaft

The Db803 is the second lightest shaft on the market with the lightest being the db803 ice (which is also available as a pole, and just has some kinda of textured grip on it.) You be the judge.

put the recipt inside the shaft so when it breaks, you will have the recipt right with you. you could also keep your heads recipt inside there near the top. thats what i did with my monster just because it has a lifetime warrenty. i know it is never going to break though.

I think the ice and standard db803 are the same weight, just the ice looks cool... the texture is a gimmick if you will. BTW, I think db803 is what deBeer named the specific alloy that they use in those shafts; so, if they are both made of the db803 alloy... same weight, yo.

DB803 ice's suck. My friend traded his F-15 for one and thinks he made a great trade. So we were watching the varsity game and this kid snaps his D-pole, gets his DB803 standard adn then that snaps.

Yeah, you can't 'protect' your stick when your checking another players stick and you can't protect a stick that easily on a shot.

I agree, lacrosse is a physical game and the shafts should be able to stand up to the abuse, which is why I wouldnt buy a wonderboy for $15

I know this is a old thread. I didn't want to make a totally different thread to say this but the new 2007 Wonderboy shafts are alot stronger than the old one. Seeing the pics of the thinness of relaxin's wonderboy that he snapped and comparing it to my new black wonderboy there is a noticeable increase in thickness of the shaft. Hopefully this extra thickness added to the Wonderboy will stop all the sayings of how they break so easily.

D4LIFE
07-08-2007, 06:39 PM
yes, they are same but stronger. they had some issue in the production that they fixed to fix snapping problem, idk what exactly.

nah wonderboys are really weak....my friend broke his giving a cross check to some1s arm...it snapped in half completely too

D4LIFE
07-11-2007, 08:05 PM
alot of shafts wont do well with cross checking, if u want to cross check then get a box shaft or a Fatboy. if u dont cross check the 07 wonderboys are plenty strong unless u absolutly brutal to your shafts (then u might want to just get like 100 aluminum shafts cause nothing will last long, lol.)
