i need a new helmet for this summer and i play goalie and middie so i'm trying to find a velcro throat guard or a throat guard that doesnt have to be drilled to avoid having to get multiple helmets/screwing-unscrewing throatguard
if you know where i could find a velcro or alternative throatguard that would be very helpful

Wrong forum, but welcome to the forums. What you should do is drill the holes, but when you play mid, tape the throat guard to the chin piece. Voila!

what kind of helmet do you have. If you have a CLH2 (with the holes on the chinpiece) or the original cascade you're in luck if you find the old warrior throat guard. If you have a Cpro or CPX you might be SOL

That will strap on pretty much any helmet. Unless you have a original Cascade, in that case just get the foam one.

even if you have a cpro or cpx or one of those i have seen goalies (nick murtha (SP)) who went to johns hopkins who used the orignal cascade throat guard the little foam one and attached it to his cpro some how with extra sting i would say if you dont want to have the throat guard on there try that. I just recomend getting the one for the helmet its the safest thing you can do, but for you that seems out of the question.

insted of drilling the throat gaurd on i wish all you needed to do was drill snap on pieces on so you attach and detach the gaurd easy for those goalies who play different positions.

It's no penalty, just some people think it's a pointless to wear it unless you're in cage.

sorry goalieman i havnt checked the forums in a few days. I was going to take a picture for you to show you what his looks like but my dad came home and i'm going to my brothers game but i will take one a little later and put it up for you. If i remember correctly the 5000 is grey and then there is another one someother number which is white. I know for a fact my brothers is white and says warrior on it and it has 3 snaps. I know for a fact that the other grey one has 3 snaps. I am unsure of the name though i know it was a warrior something.
ok i just got back from my brothers game and yes that throat guard does have the snaps. It is the sameone my brother has except my brothes is white. You may need to modify the throat guard a little to fit your helment because it isn't made for anything other then orignal casecades and lower. Which means some hockey lace or sidewall string to attach it and your good to go. Like i said before i have seen it done before. You just need to be creative.

Or you can just buy the Riddell one and it will fit fine without any modifications.
