Boston was an embarrasment. This shows that emotion becomes a factor in winning a game and losing a game.

It's funny how everyone said that Gait wouldn't be a good coach.

It's even funnier how Laxman thinks Boston was playing. I didn't know they resurrected the Blazers?!

I thought it was a fairly boring/dissapointing game. Still, congrats to Colorado.

Buffalo had so many stupid penalties, and Tavares left early, leaving a hole in the offense. Sucks for Buffalo.

Congradulations to the Mammoth.

when did tavares leave??....any one know what happend to him???...and did he come back at all??

I think they were saying Tavares had some sort of hamstring problem; it was awfully hard to hear what the ESPN2 announcers were saying while watching the game at the viewing party at Brooklyn's, which is next to the Pepsi Center.

He did come back toward the end of the game, but by then it was too late for the Bandits.

It was a great defensive battle early on, and the Bandits seemed to have a fire lit under them after Tavares went out, but it was nowhere near enough.

The craziest thing was that they pulled Dietrich, the league's MVP. A little overrated, apparently. His backup seemed to do better.

Go Mammoth! :)

Yea colorado played well, but buffalo just dug themselves a hole with all those penalties. It also killed them that Tavares left early. And also they pulled their goalie??? I guess it was to motivate him to play better, but he wasnt really playing bad. Overall a pretty boring game to watch, but lacrosse is like NEVER on TV so i watched. Condradulations to Colorado on the championship.

Haha, I'm watching the replay, and I noticed that they miked the helmets. I just heard some Mammoth player go "Pass the f**kin' ball!"

Looks the the FCC doesn't cover lacrosse games.

i dont have any clips. but i think the mammoth played pretty well and the bandits shot themselves in the foot. The stupid hits to the helmet killed them. I am super stoked the mammoth won because i love them

Looks the the FCC doesn't cover lacrosse games.

It's more the fact that the FCC really only covers network television. ESPN2 is cable, not network, so they *could* get away with it more often than what happens now, but it's probably a case of their not pressing their luck, since some here would like to see all television under the oversight of the FCC.

But it was cool to see that they miked a number of the helmets for the game.

at about 8:30 i was flippin thorugh channels when what do i see??? on an unknown channel, the game was beeing played the whole time and i didnt bother searching for it.

Isn't television great? :)

Here in Colorado, Altitude, an expanded cable sports station owned by Kroenke, is showing a repeat of the game tomorrow, but the game will also show on Altitude2, which is basically when they convert one of the public access stations on basic cable to show sports stuff.

I was looking on ESPN.com for clips or pics, and, not surprisingly, they don't have jack squat.

The only pics i've seen so far are a pair of shots of Prout on the NLL site, and one of Langry on the Mammoth site. All are post-game celebration shots.

Knowing the NLL site, they'll take a week before they get up some crappy looking footable from B2 Networks. And ESPN? You can probably forget about it. :(

I was wondering if, by any chance, anyone on this forum taped the game? I figured that I would put it on timer on my VCR so that I could see the game later on APTN (it was listed on this channel on Shaw Digital Cable) and it never showed there.

Colorado wins....the franchise curse is over.

Did you know, this franchise, the one that is now the Colorado Mammoth, won the very first championship in the history of what is now known as the NLL? The Baltimore Thunder won the Eagle Pro Box Lacrosse League's championship in 1987. Since then, the team has become the Pittsburgh Crossefire, Washington Power and now the Colorado Mammoth, and all the while has sported some fine teams, but historically suffered crippling late season collapses. Finally, they've come together to irraticate the "curse" and to get the team back to the promised land of a championship. Congratulations are in order, and I certainly hope that the team will not only live this one up, but realize how long its been for this franchise, and how important a win that really was.

Honestly, I thought it was a dissapointing game. And Buffalo cheapshotting Colorado left, right, and centre was really stupid. Their penalties were just ridiculous, especially the one where someone punched Sims in the face and almost knocked him out. Also, trying to lay out Nash was a pretty bad idea as well. Overall, I thought Buffalo played an awful game.

congrats to CO for playing a normal game...but they didn't WIN it...
BUF lost the game for them...between the disoriented defense and dietrich going bad in the middle of the game like the chinese food in my fridge and kilgour's coaching and the insane penalties...uggh...horrible game to show my family what lacrosse is about as i was visiting relatives for mothers day and told them they all HAD to watch it...
more of my rants about the game are on ln...im too disgusted to write more

What's with the Buffalo apologists? :thumbsdow

The Mammoth only lost to Buffalo on the road by 2 late in the regular season, and without Nash, no less. Maybe Buffalo was just seriously overrated and had this coming.

But if you're going to go with all the cheap shots like the Bandits did (and not all of 'em were called, either), then you need to take the butt-whupping like a man.

Either way, they would've lost.

...........all the cheap shots like the Bandits did (and not all of 'em were called, either).........

Take off your grey and maroon lenses, and you'd see a bunch of uncalled Mammoth penalties too.

Doesn't matter, the refs didn't affect the outcome. There were several other reasons why the Bandits lost. Top 10:

1) Colorado came to play
2) Buffalo defense was porous
3) Buffalo offense couldn't execute
4) Mark Steenhuis and Kim Squire played like they were drunk....maybe they hit the post game party early?
5) JT got hurt
6) Chugger played poorly .
7) After Buffalo battled back to make it 10-7, Chugger was put back into the game.
8) Billy Dee Smith is a selfish meathead at times.
9) Troy Bonterre had more goals than any other Bandit.....if this guy is 22% of your offense, you're not winning many!
10) Gee Nash was very good in the Mammoth net.

Damnit...best line ever...wish i thought of that for my article...
and i am not taking anything away from CO...they played solid...but they werent tested or challenged...they just went out and played a mediocre game...buffalo lost it rather than CO winning...boston could have played edmonton and lost the way they played is what i am saying...

There are always missed penalties, but the Bandits were head-hunting, and that's all there was to it.

If you want to play the game like that, you shouldn't be shocked when you find your players in the penalty box far more often than the opposing team.

I mean, I can see things getting missed, like a push in the back or something.

But don't go for the head ALL THE SMEGGING TIME. :)

I don't know where to start:

Colorado played an amazing, well planned, and controlled game. Buffalo on the other hand was at the complete other end of the spectrum.

more on that later.

I thought the TV coverage was some of the worst put out by an ESPN/ABC network in a long time. Interviews with coaches during the game? Mics on the players? Bench reporter? Looked more like an arena football game.. and the "technical" difficulties? Looked like a High School AV club broadcast the game.. I was just embarassed by the overall representation of the game by Espn2, the commentators, Buffalo, The fans, and Kilgour.

First off, there is no way in hell an NLL game should ever be Mic'd up.. Are you kidding me?.. would you mic up the NFL or the NBA during a game? would you talk to the coaches as they are watching plays develop??

it was just embarassing..

and did anyone catch the fan throwing a cup at the REF??? or hear the F bomb at least 4 times?

Overall I thought the NLL was made to look like a 3rd rate sport... I was embarassed that I tried out for the NLL.. I truly wish the producers of the event could have tried to portray the sport a little better.. and buffalo certainly didn't do much to strengthen the image of the league.. looked like a junior b goon squad out there.. granted Colorado had their fair share of cheap stuff, but hey.. these guys are professional..

When it was over, I just turned the TV off, and said out loud: What was that?

from a game play standpoint Colorado put on a clinic.. they looked unstoppable.. now keep in mind, I do not have any loyalties to either team. so let it be known that I hold no bias.. I just thought Buffalo could respond a little better to adversity by stepping their game up instead of head hunting and F bombs.. There's no reason paid professionals on a National stage should ever act or play like that.. unless you belong to a 3rd rate sport.. and that's exactly what I witnessed.. a third rate sport.. no wonder why all the field traditionalists despise the box game.. (for those of you who don't know, I am a box player, so don't think I'm ripping on box).. what was on tv was not a great indoor game played by the premier players in the world.. what was presented to the viewing audience was nothing more than a second rate senior B lacrosse game, and I'm not happy with Buffalo, their fans, ESPN/ABC, the announcers, Kilgour, and the NLL..

I just wish they realized that it was a great opportunity to show the nation what a hard, physical, and tough game lacrosse is.. I just wish they could have emphasized how difficult it is to score and move the ball in such a confined area.. How tough it is to thread the needle on the small goals.. the dedication these guys have to a sport that pays less than a grocery store clerk.. Why not show the NLL that I love?? why not play the way the box game is supposed to be played??

embarassing, just embarassing..

no doubt though, that i'll be trying out again this year.

damn I love box
