Every time I get beat in a faceoff is because they clamped faster than what I do. I have read the stickies but i still need help. What should I do when they clamp the ball and havn't raked it yet?

If I get beat by a clamp...I try to get my foot in the way of their intended rake path, that way their rake doesn't get out to a wingman as easy. Just watch out for their crosse while moving your foot or you could be called for "kicking the crosse"

jump, jump, jump, jump, jump... if you can get a decent jump down, you can beat any good clamper

Are you guys saying jump before he clamps it? because thats what im reading. I mean like after he clamps that ball right before he rakes it.

not literally jump lol, the move jump. i would recommend watching rit37's video tutorial on the jump. but yeah either jump the ball or get your stick/foot in his intented path.

Jump:
The jump is sometimes called a reverse clamp due to the fact that you still trap the ball with your head, but you trap it with the face of your head, instead of the back. Here’s how it goes. This move requires a lot of things to go on at once, so it is a slight bit complicated. You use your right hand to pick your head up off the ground, while tilting the top back towards yourself and pushing it forward at he same time. You then bring it back down once you get over the ball, so as to trap the ball. Once again, you can either rake it or pop back to yourself. If you did the move correctly, your stick should be underneath your opponent’s, as this move is used to beat the clamp.
straight from the tutorial... you should check it out...

In most cases, they'll rake it to the left after a clamp, so if you're beat, stick out that right foot to try and get in the way of the ball. They may rake through their legs or something else, though, but it's obviously easiest to rake it to the left.
Going body isn't a bad idea if you're beat.

how do you clamp, do you clamp with two hands over like a motorcycle grip or with one one hand over one hand under like your cradling, if you do one hand over one under and only rotate with the bottom hand your clamp will be less powerful but much faster.

if i cant beat someone, and theyre constantly getting fast breaks, i move before the whistle, or line up so i can have the advantage...if the ref doesnt call me, i have a huge headstart, and if the ref blows his whistle, its only a slowbreak.

nah don't do any of that.. if you can't beat him with a clamp or jump just jam him.. go over the ball and put your stick on his arms and stick so he can't move.. if he tries to rank you can push his hands so the ball goes behind him.. or you can just hold down real tight until the wings get there to create a 50 50

guys, use some common sense. If he's not fast enough to clamp before the other guy, then there's no way that he'll be fast enough to jump before the other guy clamps.
If the other guy clamps the ball before you, then just clamp down on the head of his stick as hard as you can. When he tries to rake, there's a chance that you'll be able to pull the ball out of his stick.

i disagree, my jump is a lot faster and more successful than my clamp

what i do is slice my head under theirs if they beat me in a clamp. It works really well unless the ball stick in the underside of their mesh.

I kind of see what you're asking so I'll give you a few different answers:
Block where he's raking with your stick or foot
See where he's raking to and beat him there
Push him off the ball before he can move it, box him out, and pick it up.
Or when he clamps be ready with the 2 finger

A) get better at clamping
B) learn to pull the ball from his head after he clamps
C) jump him.

DO THE JAM! it beats all moves b/c ur going for their stick instead of the ball.
You jump the ball but land ur hands and head on his head. Then move into position to kick the ball. It'll beat a clamp anyday b/c u can push his stick back and away.

I have a quick question about the jam move. Is it legal for when you hit his stick to have your hand touch his stick?

work on your forearms and biceps for a quicker clamp

yeah its perfectly legal its just like your punching his hands and stick out of the way then box him out and the ball is yours

yea im not the best clamper but i think ur JAM is what i call a punch...im prolly wrong on the name but neway what i do is curl my wrist like im raking and i jump over the ball but concentrate just above the throat of his stick and i force my stick into his to jam up his clamp and then put the face of the head over the ball and rake it
