What makes gloves illegal? Is it just holes in the palms that make them illegal? Would my brine:defts still be legal if i cut the cuff off of them?
I think there illegal if the skin of your palm shows, then they are too short.

if you have holes in your palms, they are illegal.

so i would be able to get away with cutting the cuff off as long as my palms are not showing?

Correct me if i am wrong, but i believe the NFHS rulebook states you cannot modify any of your gear in order to give yourself an unfair advantage.
Of course i have seen some people play without the original bicep pad on their arm pads. But that is less noticable because some shoulder pads do not even have those bicep pads, and it is under the jersey. I suggest a search of the Rules and Officiating Forum

But the cuff on your glove shouldn't be very noticeable either because not all gloves have cuffs.

Yes but referees inspect your gloves if they call you at the end of the quarter, I have never seen a ref pick up someones shirt to inspect their shoulder pads...

no palms, if they catch it you must tape it or get off the field/use different gloves.
I am not sure about the cuff, you could try it. Worse comes to worse you have to get new gloves :P.

I cut off the cuff on my defts and my new superfreaks. I hate those damn floating cuffs, they don't really do anything. I've never been caught and I've had my defts like that all season. Technically it is illegal, but I don't think it give me much of an advantage over someone with the cuffs still on.

i dont see any reason to cut the cuff off anyways, i like my defts with the cuff on. i do sweat a lot more in the defts than my old ones though, maybe thats because of the cuff

well, i may cut off the cuff on my defts and try and tie a shooting string or shoelace or somethin where the cuff was to make it look like i didnt cut anything.

Warrior is correct. NFHS rules dictate that modified equipment is illegal, including a pinched head or altered gloves

my coach plays pro for the dragons, he has the whole palm cut out, so its basically just the outside of the glove left. But thats only for pro i think. I'm pretty sure its illegal in other leagues if u have something cut out, i have a lil cut out of mine, the refs dont care.
