i have a kid on my lacrosse team who isnt a bad kid but is in trouble with the cops. So this kid broke into one of his friends house with this other kid. he lit off some roman candles in the house, ordered porn on all of the tvs in the house and pissed all over some beds. my friend is pretty good friends with the kid whos house he broke into but the kids parents are pressing charges.
If you were faced with this desicion would you press charges or just make him pay for the damages

Make him pay for the damages and do chores around the house for the entire summer.

Press charges, what the hell is wrong with this kid? No offense but pissing on your "friends" beds is pretty messed up, there is something seriously wrong with this kid. I mean maybe if he hates the kid then it wouldnt be so messed up but you said they were friends. You just dont go around pissing on you friends beds.

Press. No question about it. Who cares if hes your friend, thats not a real friend. It's not a cool place to be however, I was in a spot like that last June. This kid I used to be friends with(one of his only friend by the way) but now we don't get along at all. Anyways, he hated me so he decided to do something to me. His idea of a smart plan was to bike by my house at 6:00pm on a Fri. night and shoot my dads car driver window out. Needless to say, he was seen by three people, and my dad happened to be outside at the time so he caught the kid. We pressed and that kid is screwed. I find it funny how stupid he was to try something like this at that time of day however.
Anyways, ,long story short, press. Who knows, next time, this kid may do something worse.

yeah press charges...what he did is messed up and just unnecessary. maybe you could press like lighter charges, you could probably get charged with a felony for that and i wouldn't want to charge with a felony, but i dunno if you can decide that. i wouldn't let him go without any trouble with the law because what he did is over the top without question.

Yea on second thought you should press charges. A similar thing happened to me at a school function in middle school on a friday afterschool. A random "kid" (he was 18) who had come with some of his friends decided to pick someone and mace the hell out of them for no reason. I didnt even know what happened until I fell on the ground and couldnt see at all and it was on of the most painful things I've ever felt. We pressed charges and the kid got completely screwed.

I see only one question, and it echos the senitments above:
"Without pressing charges, how is the perpetrator made to take responsibility for his actions?"
anything short of the legal system coming into play teaches the lesson that you don't need to be troubled with your poor decisions, somebody will bail you out and make it go away...no problem, do anything you want, don't get caught, blame somebody/something else f you do...
How can that be acceptable?
I don't know the kids, of course, but they need to have vandalism charges brought against them, definitely.

I know he's your friend and all, but no "good" kid would do that to someone's house (ie fireworks inside, ordering porn) let alone a friend's house.

make him pay for it because if you press charges and they are friends it could ruin the friendship.

The guy broke into the home, ordered porn, lit roman candles in the house, pissed on the beds and acted like a tota tool, I would hope the freindship is already over.
If its not then he's not the only stupid kid.

I would press charges and make him pay, the double whammy.

If he just ordered the porn as a joke then i would just make him pay for it, but pissing on the beds, I would press charges.

what i want to know is how he got caught. Did someone walk in on him peeing on a bed? That would be a little weird. Come home to someone peeing on your stuff.

press charges...make him pay for everything plus get loads of community service for what he did...
i am sorry but i would do none of that to anyon'e home that i considered a friend...
he deserves what he got...
or if you are into the whole retribution...light fireworks in his car/blow up his laxstick, and then hold him down and piss on him...

I would definitely say something got out of hand. This kid sounds like a future slime ball. What would posess someone to do all of that if he's a "good kid". He sounds like he needs some parenting.

depends how old the kid is, cause really if hes under 18 there arent many things that can be done to him. Id probably let his parents deal with it and make him pay for the damages.
