one time before a lacrosse practice in spring break a had a little drink and got a lil drunk and scored 2 goals in a shoe mosh goal before practice, we were actually playing shoe mosh, but any way it was fun

One of our players showed up drunk to a game while I was a player. He ended up breaking his ankle...he still runs with a limp 2 years later. This past season two guys showed up drunk to a game w/ a team we knew we'd clobber. They were benched...obviously.

I'm not going to preach too much, but it seems like in hs you're still equating alcohol=being cool. You don't really seem to have a mature attitude towards it at all...might want to wait until senior year of college before posting something like that again...

there's a reason there's a legal drinking age guys. if you are going to drink underage, try to be smart. dont do stuff like ride you bike, drive a car, or anything else where you could hurt yourself or worse yet anyone else.

you have plenty of time for drinking later, right now you should be concentrating on making the best of your education, its the key to having an easier time later, like when you are my age.

even if you aren't going to play hung over, or drunk. who cares. I'll give you an example. We had 5 good d men that could start. 2 went to spain for a school trip. We had been looking for a backup goalie and finally found one. So we figured we had 3 good starting defenders, and a good goalie with a backup for our first game, which was a very winnable game. But over the weekend, the backup goalie and one of our defenders get caught drinking together, they're brothers. The team gets screwed. We take a middie off the B line to play d, since he has before. He breaks his arm. So we take a middie of the a line to play d. He almost breaks his thumb. We make it through the game without suffering any more injuries, but lost the game 14-7. THat was an extremely winnable game.

I used to drink from time to time, then realized that it was getting me nowhere, and had no point, so I stopped. It's very possible to have fun without drinking. Right now, if I get caught doing anything, It's off NHS, off peer leadership, off the team, it goes on my record, it decreases my chances of getting into colleges, and it just screws things up royally.

If you get caught drinking, and get kicked off the team, then think. You not only f'ed things up for yourself, but you just did one of the most selfish things that you can do and f'ed things up for your team too. Odds are, they aren't going to be happy with you. I know we weren't.

a drunk is someone that drinks constantly. drinking on the weeknds is not considered a drunk. if you held that policy when you got into college, you'd definently be doing some serious masturbation, beucase unless you date a academic chic, its hard to find girls that don't drink, and still have a good social life.

Yea, red bull makes me go insane, its like I'm already hyper enough as it is and if I drink a red bull I am off the walls. One time I was trying to work on a project with some people and it was late so I figure an energy boosting drink might help. ok... Im major ADHD. im hyper enough as it is...

we had a project in teen leadership where we had to set-up a news broadcast as well as having several commercials. needless to say we did a redbull ad and i ended up chugging one during class... by the time class was over the room was a mess, and i had been given several demerits and a detention... this stuff is nuts... there really isnt much of a use for it i see b/c your not wired long. in about 20 mins or so your on your face snoring from using every drop of energy in your body...

Ritalin kills me, I took it once (prescribed by a doctor of course) and its a total downer. Maybe the dosage was to high on it or something but when I was on it I didn't want to do anything at all and could literaly sit there for hours on end and do nothing. Luckily after that experience my mom decided "medicine" just wasn't the right thing for me.

when you take too much you have this interesting side-effect i like to call the einstein syndrome... LOL (i feel like doctor already!)

you become so incredibly focused, that your friends wont even recognize you. they say you look as though you are in a totally different demension. your eyes glaxe over and you have a spaced out look on your face. your mind keeps catching the smallest details and starts analyzing them... trying to figure out how it works, why it works, and whats its purpose. i tend to start answering peoples questions when they dont even ask my help. i just cant keep my eyes from wandering onto their worksheet or paper or something. it really freaks people out when i at random say 23pi. and they are like, what the heck are you talking about, and you just reply, well thats the answer to numer 12, number 13 is 19.2sqr. it is just whack when you take too much.

it is not a good idea to do that though... cus you loose your personnality, and you really screw up your metabolism and your heart rate. sports becomes harder and so forth.

i have only done it a few times... namely AP exams.

if you are struck with amazing depression issues try a stack. take ritalin with a small side dosage of strattera, you will cancel the depression side effects out when you take them in combinaton. ask you pediatrician for more details.

Your 2 cents is helpful, but I don't really want to take medication. And besides I can do well enough without it such as grades etc. The only problem I sometimes have with not taking it is that I talk way to much and about very random things, but I think I would probably do that anyways.


Also I heard it would do the opposite for people who don't have ADD/ADHD, and act as like speed. I don't know about that kinda sounds untrue but who knows.

no... even if you dont have ADD/ADHD it helps your concentration. these are conditions where there is an imbalance of chemicals in the brain where certain parts work harder/faster then other parts. when you take the medicine it balances out the chemicals into the lobes where ADD/ADHD are originated so that you do not suffer the attention/memory/hyperactivity/etc. so when you dont have the syndrome it cram pacts the chemicals there just as it would if you had the syndrome. you would notice an advance in concentration and the like.

yeah, you would still be random and your personnality wouldnt change... i can attest to the... i am one of the most random people you'll ever meet if you ever see me in person. even when i do take my meds. you will just notice that your short term memory and attention span will greatly imporove with medication.

you see. thats the thing with forums... you can never tell who is ADHD/ADD or not... because if you can type it out then you have thought it through enough to now that most of the time its not even worth typing to begin with so you end up hiding your ADD/ADHD side without even meaning to... ok, i need to learn to use some periods, but we'll work on that later.

now... if your one of these craxy random people, then your screwed in lacrosse until it becomes second nature to you because all the complicated slides and moves are just too much for a person with attention problems. but once it does become second nature then the opposing team is really messed up... they stand no chance against a looney who knows what to do. its just plain fact!

ADD/ADHD people are more likely to take drugs or consume alcohol then many other people, just because we have a harder time seeing the risk involved. but that is why we have excellent lax coaches and parents, as well as dedicated forum members who are always willing to help out (suck-up)! :agree to keep us out of troule.

soo... alcohol = bad for lacrosse players, and minors especially.

well latin babe, on my end i tend to have to be choosey a bit in college whenim trying to over come alcohol. when it becomes a problem, and a person chooses to stop, its hard when someone theyre close to chooses to go out anyways. true in college its hard, but then again, im not going to date some chick that chooses frat parties over going out else where. anyways, im not saying it to be mean, just putting my point of view in. i have a girlfriend and she doesnt do any of that, b/c she knows how ive been. but im not saying everyone should be like that. thats my bad, sorry. personally i dont drink at all anymore, but especially with lax, ive seen it in a negative way too many times in game situation.

i used to drink... saw it screw MANY people over whom i was close to.

i was smart enough to quit when i did. (which wasnt smart to start in the first place, but whats done is done, nothing i can do)

now i hate alcohol... and refuse to promote it. i dont hang around people who drink any more, thus basically forced all my friends who had also been drinkers to quit. the only time i regulary consume alcohol is on sundays at church. other than that its a taboo subject.

maybe cus its 1 in the morning, but i cant really interpret what yous said so ill leave it at that for now.

Sorry about that post, you seemed to come off as a type of individual that I'm not too fond of, since that's the type that drag teams down. I'm assuming from your pm's that your definitely not that type. Anyways, it's a bit of a touchy issue for me, since I've lost games because guys show up (or don't show up because they are) hung over, and seen guys injured because they were stupid and showed up drunk.

It's a major issue for my team, and I have little doubt that if not for that, we would've won championships this past year.
