Almost everywhere sells RIT dye. Go to www.elacrosse.com for excellent instructions on how to dye a head.

CVS sometimes has it. check your supermarket first.

craft stores and fabric/sewing stores as well.

usually the supermarket is easiest.

stainless steel it washes out of. everything else...well, you get grounded for. A lot of guys like to use the liquid since it's more concentrated, provides a better color, and mixes quicker with the water. One bottle of liquid equals about two packs of powder. Also, Wal Mart is the easiest place to go...it's in the cleaning supplies/detergent area, although it dissapears from time to time.

yeah use a disposable bin ..or like a bucket (like a ball bucket works excellent) nad RIT dye from anywhere(liquid) you can use electirc tape to make designs if you want...use a box cutter knife to cut the electirc tape

ive used both, and the only difference ive noticed is the quantity, a bottle of liquid is the same as 2 boxes of powder.

in my experience, you dont get better color with one or the other, i can see kev's comment that the liquid mixes more easily with water than the powder, but i havent had any trouble mixing the powder.

I dye more than one head at a time, so it's usually cheaper to get one bottle rather than two packets.

Does anyone else add salt to it like it says in the directions?

Also, in terms of what to dye it in, I went to Big Lots and got a big stainless steel pot, so that it's easy to reheat the dye and I won't make a mess putting the dye into another container to dye the stick in. Also comes in handy to make jambalya and Frogmore stew for large crowds... Anyways, if you're a first timer and don't want to drop 20-30 on a pot, you can use a plastic trash can. Make sure you wash it out first though. Also, be careful where you pour the dye water into the trashcan. you might as well do it outside on the grass and dirt, and just dump it on the grass when you're done...I don't think it'll harm the grass, but on my parent's lawn growing up, it's not like I could tell.

i dont know if i mentioned this here, but if you are going to dye just a single (non goalie) head, go to the supermarket and get a disposable alminum baking pan, they are about about $1, the standard size, 9x12? is perfect. bring a head with you if you arent sure if its the right size
