Hey
I know there is already a Jesuit lacrosse tourney for midwest teams, but I was thinking of how great it could b if it expanded some. Thinking of all the teams
Michigan
1. U of Detroit Jesuit- They are consistently in the top 5 or so in the state (currently top 3 I believe).

Ohio
1. Cleveland St. Ignatius- Consistently one of the top 10 teams or so in Division 1 Ohio, and a member of the respected 16 team tourney featuring 16 of the best teams from Michigan, Ohio, and Pennsylania
2. Toledo St. John's Jesuit- First year at Division 1, yet a D2 finalist in the past two years and #14 in Ohio D1 this year at 11-6
3. Cinncinati Xavier- One of the best teams in the state consistently, routinely running deep in the Ohio D-1 tournament.
4. Cuyahoga Falls Walsh Jesuit- A good, up and coming team

Indiana
1. Indianapolis (?) Brebeuf Jesuit- One of the better Indiana teams, currently ranked #7 in the state

Missouri
1. Kansas City Rockhurst Jesuit- Currently not only #1 in the state, but also #1 in the Midwest, #20 in the nation. They are always Top 5.
2. St. Louis Desmet Jesuit- Another frequent Top 5 team, they are currently #3 in the state of Missouri.
3. St. Louis University Jesuit-Another team always near the top, SLU is currently #8 in Missouri.

Illinois
1. Chicago Loyola Academy- Yet another consistently good team, currently ranked #2 in the state of Illinois.
2. Chicago St. Ignatius Prep- A team that is #30 in the state of Illinois while having somewhat of an off year

Wisconsin
1. Milwaukee Marquette- Though not yet a lacrosse-renowned state, this team is #1 in Wisconsin

If you feel there are states (like Pennsylvania) who should be added, or teams in states i either missed or mismarked, please feel free to ADD or COMMENT.

I have listed *12* teams thus far, each doing considerably well in its state. If anyone has any to add, please feel free to do so, again.
Thanx

dont let IL's ignatius come they will just get rocked. i'm sure IL loyola would beat them 18-0 or some other obscene amount.

For the tournament do the teams have to have any qualifications such as private or from a certain area?

Rockhurst is nasty, they could quite possibly have the best team missouri lacrosse has ever seen. I would love to see how they do.

Before we go too much into any one state's lax (my dad and his five brothers went to the Rock, as well as 4 older cousins...and i still have about 15 younger ones waiting to be Hawklets in KC) I wonder if anyone knows of any plans to expand the # of teams in the tourney, or any information as to when and where the next one is to be played.
any feedback on if this all jesuit tourney would b a good idea

*edit-does anyone have a website for the tournament?

The Midwest Jesuit Invitational at Brebeuf was a pretty good time. Loyola was clearly the best team there, but I was pretty proud to say that we held our own against everyone there. The tournament was ran really smoothly and you could tell Brebeuf did a ton of work to prepare for it. From what I got from talking with people they are looking to continue to grow the tournament. I don't think its to far out until you see pretty much all the teams listed and maybe one jesuit school from PA coming to make it a 12 team tourny.

The only other regional team is Creighton Prep. Sure there's only 6 teams in Nebraska, but they are ranked number one in the state.

blake's from where, minnesota?

as of right now, based on laxpower rankings, here would b the tourney set-up for a post-postseason tourney

1st round
#8 St. Xavier Cincy vs. #9 Brebeuf Jesuit Indy
#5 St. Louis Desmet vs. #12 St. Ignatius (Illinois)
#7 Toledo St. John's vs. #10 St. Louis University
#6 Milwaukee Marquette vs. #11 Cuyahoga Falls Walsh Jesuit

2nd round
#1 Kansas City Rockhurst vs. St. X/ Brebeuf Winner
#4 St. Ignatius (Ohio) vs. Iggy (IL)/ Desmet Winner
#2 Loyola Chicago vs. SJ/ SLU Winner
#3 U of Detroit Jesuit vs. Marquette/Walsh Winner

drawn up like any other bracket, where in 3rd round 1 plays 4, 2 plays 3 if there r no upsets...any thoughts on what this tourney would look like?

Yes, they've proven themselves against teams from Florida, North Carolina and Texas.

ur right, they r very good by rankigns atleast...what i don't understand is that since they r not jesuit, y would they b in this tourney? since this is not just the best teams, but the best jesuit teams.
it seems like it would b a great tourney...11 of the 12 teams are in the midwest top 100 (out of 300+ teams), a great jesuit school showing.

I honestly think Rockhurst would win, they are the only school in the Inside Lacrosse top 25 honorable mention, and just plain insane in general.

I'm sure it'd by Rockhurst and U. of D. in the finals. It would be a great tournament though, and I don't think the Brebeuf tournament is to far away from being all the Jesuit teams in the Midwest.

I would love to see this idea come to life... Between DeSmet and SLUH's facilities, I think a 12 team bracket could be pulled off. SLUH has two turf fields and a grass field and has access to fields at Forest Park(large city park). DeSmet is going to be adding their stadium turf soon and also has a lacrosse game field and two practice fields. I have been wanting to try and put something like this together for awhile...having 3 Jesuit schools in MO. I just would not want to step on Indy's toes.

This might sound stupid but what does Jesuit actually mean? Like what is it? I know it has something to do with the Catholic church but I don't know much more.

The Jesuits are members of the society of Jesus, a group in the Catholic Church founded by Ignatius of Loyola

of course they cant hold a candle to the marianists

I think SLUH has the best stadium in the state. The turf is perfect, and the stands being built into the hill is cool.

CBC, Clayton, and MICDS all have amazing facilities as well.
Hell MICDS has like a zillion fields, you could hold the entire tournament there if they'd allow it.

Yeah, I know at the Brebeuf Tournament, the teams have Mass and some meals together. I don't know if it's mandatory though, cause I know of at least 3 Jewish players on Brebeuf.

My guess is that they'd want to hold the Jesuit tournament at a Jesuit school. Here in St. Louis, they'd have the advantage of 2 sites that could host it. Rockhurst has 2 fields and could probably put together a third.

All the teams did pretty much everything together (meals, mass, dinner/social). All the teams were at mass, and it looked like everyone was there but I'm sure that if anyone didn't want to go they didn't have to.
Brebeuf also had really nice fields. Football Stadium, Soccer Stadium, and a field in front to warm-up on. They also had locker room space for each team. With 12 teams it would obviously get a little more crowded, but I know they were planning on having 4-6 girls teams also come so they have the space. The girls tourny didn't end up happening because of a lack of interest, it hurts when both Marquette and St. X-Cincy are both all male.

i don't know about that...i play for SJJ, and we lost early int he season 12-8 to ann arbor pioneer, michigan...died 8-8 going into the 4th. they r #3 or 4 in Michigan, i believe a slow or two above/behind U of D...and we r supposed to be the #7 team...i bet loyola could beat U of D, so don't be so "sure".
and as for the all-girls element, it'd b a tougher tourney...SJJ, Iggy OH, U of D, Rockhurst, and St. X i know for sure r all boys...i'm gonna guess they rn't the only ones.
also, to get all these teams i think it'd have to be a central location...while missouri is in the heartland, i doubt that u could get all the Ohio, Michigan, etc. teams to come that far southwest...it might ahve to still b at a brebuef or somewhere close
