When the horn sounds on a dead ball for a regular substitution, may a team substitute more than one person? The rules say that one person at a time may be in the substitution area.
If more than one person, how does it work?
Thanks,
Mike

On a horn people can come on and off freely. IE 3 players can run on before 3 come off.

And they don't ave to go through the box, they can go right through the coaches' box and onto the field.
BTW, the 20 second time limit for horn sub starts when the ball goes out. I usually signal dead ball and blow the whistle, point the direction and yell the color, put up both hands to let them know they can get a horn, and click my timer. Even if it takes them a few seconds to call for a horn, the time is still running.
And the coach from the other team doesn't get any extra time if he decides to sub after the other team.
BTW, you *cannot* get a horn if the whistle is for a player participating from out of bounds, since that's a technical foul.

Agreed, the ball has to go out. A technical foul does not permit it.
When it goes out on the sideline I put both hands up, endline one hand. This is so they know they can have a horn.
