i know in missouri we have about 2 good refs in the entire state and they rest suck. i mean they look like its their first game everytime. i mean its just disgusting how bad and how much it effects games. everyloss we had this year was greatly effected by the terrible refs(not to blame all on them a loss is a loss )
IS MISSOURI THE ONLY STATE WITH ABSOLUTELY AWFUL REFS???

HECK NO. Wisconsin has the worst refs in the country. I play defense, some guy set a pick and we were in a zone so i thought nothing of running though them *they were our cross town rivals* i lowered my shoulder and ran, RAN the kid over. My stick was no where near the person and my hands were together at the butt of my stick... whats the call? CROSS CHECK. This was one of many unfair calls, the calls were even worse for the other team. I was upset even for them.

well that should be a penalty anyway unnecessary roughness you cant just run through a pick thats a penalty. i knwo its teh wrong call i feel you dont worry. everytime our refs blow the wirstle they call a loose ball push

instead of whining about the refs, why dont you guys take the test and become refs? you will make some money, and the kids that come after you wont have to suffer bad refs like you did.
ive got several former players that are reffing as well as playing HS lax, so it can be done.
go to http://www.uslacrosse.org/ for info on how to become a ref

In one of my games this year, I got called for unnecessary roughness when I poke checked a kid. Our coach asked the ref and he said it looked like I was aiming for the kids ribs, eventhough I hit glove. Whatever.
I also got holding once when my stick was being held onto by the free hand of an attackman. THat probably pissed me off the most.
By the way I play in FLorida

In Virginia, a few years back, we had refs that would call any physical check a slash--legal or not--and most body checks unneccesary roughness. We were the most aggressive team in our district and it really screwed us over.

It was probably a point to have your aggression toned down, I've seen it done by many other refs to keep the game civil.
I've had a few experiences with bad refs, mostly isolated incidents though. I did have one game in HS reffed by an alumni from the opposing school who should have recused himself from the game, but instead made it very hard for us with his bias in calls. I had another in college who refused to levy a penalty for a laaaaaate cross check after the final buzzer but said he would have called it had there still been time on the clock and that bugged me for safety's sake (specifically my own) and I've had refs watch as the ball rips the top corner, and goes through a hole in the net and not call the goal, even with the other team acknowledging the score. The point is bad officiating happens and it can get really bad but you have to take it in stride and finish the game.

We had the opposite in a JV game long ago. We had to reschedule a game against our arch rivals and the refs apparently didn't get the word, so no refs showed up. There was a graduate of our school from the year before watching and he was nice enough to ref. Unfortunately, he didn't know the rules very well and he tried so hard NOT to be biased for us that he was biased against us. The game got really out of hand and ended in a bench clearing brawl. My coach was extremely angry at us (I can't remember him ever getting angry at us except for that time), because he always taught us that we should play cool, no matter how bad the refs are. He always said, "there will always be bad refs.....you just have to play better than the refs."

In Washington the refs absolutely suck, most have never even played a game of lacrosse. But one game this year i was on the face-off and it had been a bad day for me so i was jumpy, i jumped the whistle and got called big deal i know what i did wrong(keep in mind that was the only face-off i lost that game). For the next 3-4 faces every time i would go down the ref would say something like "good job there jumpy" while he was busy saying this i noticed the other kid doing almost everything illegal. Hand on plastic, back hand lifted, not parallel, his head was evn touching the ball and none of that got called.

We had a horrible ref twice this season. The first time was against a first year team, and their first game, so we thought he was just evening the game a bit. Then we played an undefeated team, it was close the whole game and he blew numerous calls, the worst was a non call of offside when the kid hung out nearly in the box in front of the ref, we where yellin and everything but he ignored it. Our coached flipped out and we got a warning form the MIAA, but the hed official ovuched for us because he ahd reffed us and said we were fair and we do nothing wrong. I live in Massachusetts btw

yea you are right. i remember that goal exactly. its like the reffs in texas are blind. lets see sunday in the all star game i stripped the ball from a kid, go to scoop it up and right after i picked it up and had possesion i get cross checked from behind in the helment and the reff calls a loose ball hold (is that even a call) on me. then another kid gets blatently tripped and pushed from behind then does 3 somersaults. no call

o i almost forgot this crap speaking of faceoffs in one of our games our faceoff kid (wolfie) was at the faceoff to start the half and the kid comes out and lines up left handed. so both sticks are goin the same way. he of course doesnt try figuring they would call it and when the ref blows thw whistle to start he doenst call anything our faceoff kid says he lined up left handed. the ref just says o ya that illegal isnt it and lets it go

One game we had wierd reffs. They would allow the game to play but when it came down to the last minute and a half of the game, the other team scored to tie it up and they spent 1:00 min just to set up the faceoff. We could have won that game and gone to the gold medal round but they had to take so long. We tied that game and went to the bronze medal game.

Refs have cost us two games this year. We've had a ref cuss at our goalie, and call an illegal stick by first bending it in, then calling it 1/8" too short.
