One happened to me during tryouts when I was taking a shot. What really stinks is I was right in front of the coach when it happened so he saw the whole thing. Fortunately, I've gotten better and they usually only happen when I play lefty.

not since about 4th grade...after that, i started playing with deeper pockets with more hold, and since then, i havent really had to worry about it. especially now, my stick is stung with Orange's giant pocket, and i can wind up all the way vertical (almost) and still hold the ball.

Happened to me today. Caught a pass on a clear, went to turn and run kind of made a stutter step to make a move and boom I see the ball rolling up the sidelines out of bounds. This happened to my friend before too, except his whole stick went flying out of his hands. Pretty much the funniest thing I have ever seen on the field.

i pulled a phantom check...it was my first season, as crease d i made this kid cry slapping/poking in the arm and ribs, and then i picked it up and i got excited, cradled way to much and it flew out, i probably would have been able to run close to the goal

happened to me too... I'm a goalie and I run like a midi... so I like to use it every now and then... but I was running up and then I just felt a change in the stick... I turn around to see the attackman scooping it a few feet behind me... and you can figure out what happened from here... lets just say I'm the reason we lost... and we lost 6-5

I saw a goalie recieve a phantom check and the ball went right into the goal. That was actually pretty funny. The book keeper didnt know who to give the goal to.

Kid on my team once had the ball come out of his stick, bounce off his helmet, and back into the stick.

The best phantom check I have ever seen was in Top Gun last summer. One of the kids (we called him 'Muscles from Bronx,' for obvious reasons) going for the Sully Challenge, which was a one-on-one challenge against Sean Sullivan (a Terp pole) to win a pair of Top Gun Mac LEs, dropped it after taking two steps. The funny thing was he already owned and was using a pair of Limited Edition Macs.

In our last practice I picked up a ground ball went to run away and straight up dropped my stick and kept running. I was very confused.
