Well heres the story, Ive been playing lacrosse for 2 years and Im one of the better players on my team. Anyway, the last few games Ive been on fire, :thumbsdow and scoring more then normaly. Last night some of my team mates wouldn't pass me the ball even if i had a wide open net. my parents were pissed an started lecturing me about never passing to them again. I was jw if its ever happened to you? :thumbsdow

i'm on d so it's never happened to me. I hate when sucky kids run up field and they get stripped because they get greedy and try and score, even though there is someone open

i pass when i need to on defense
my point of view is a bad example
defense always want the chance to score a goal
thats why i took 10 shots this season but unfornutely didnt score
but out of the 23453 passes i did make gave me high assists
without that pass i know the guy wouldnt score so i give myself a pat on the back

Well maybe you thought you were open, but you actually weren't. There could have been a defender behind you/ in your blind spots that you couldn't see, so your teammates didn't want to cause a turnover. What your parents said, is just an immature game that no one wins at.

Don't get me wrong scoring is great and all...but I take more pride in having good vision, and being able to find the open man and make a good pass for an assist.
I don't understand why some people feel the need to hold on to the ball for as long as humanly possible.

i would recomend passing the ball to the players that prefuse to pass you the ball. this will show them that you can pass and they will start passing to you again. the other players out number yoe meaning they have the ball in there sticks alot more than you do. not to dis your parents or anything but they dont really know what they are talking about i dont think any parent should tell there kid not to pass the ball to his teamates. lacrosse is a team sport and if this continues to go on ibet you wont have a very successful finish to your season

The only thing worse than players who don't pass... Goalies Who Don't Pass!!! Our school has this goalie who sucks but always runs straight out into traffic. Doesn't even look for a pass.

Anyways, if noone's passing to you, get the ball yourself. Get ground balls, strip the ball, pick off passes, etc.

PostalCode, before I tell you anything, I'm ASSUMING that you looked for a pass before you starting dodging and scoring and such. If this is true, than you are starting to master the most important skill of lacrosse, learning when to and when not to hold the ball. This may be why your teammates are getting mad, but really, they still think being the best means that THEY have to score. Once again, assuming, I give you kudos for learning this in only two years.

I have the same deal going, I am not really a shooter I guess you could say. I usually look for the pass, look again for the pass, maybe look again for the pass, and then think about shooting. I think this comes from being on a team surrounded by people who were alot better than me, but now I'm one of the better kids on my team, so I need to get used to having to take initiative

as a pole, i try to handle as little as possible. because it puts our team at a disadvantage when a pole has the ball. But i have seen this on the rec level, bacause no one knows the others skills, so they do it all themselves.

Thanks for the advice guys, ya my parents dont know anything about lacrosse, dont think ill take their advice LOL. Next time ill look for the pass instead of bookin it down the field and also check if im ACTUALLY open, instead of assuming. BTW im one of the better players Because i play houseleague :nahya: hopefully rep next year. Thanks Again

i think too much passing is much worse then too little. my team has a serious problem with NOT SHOOTING

your problem is probably only because of te fact that it's houseleague, where everyone wants to play. When you watch the older rep teams, they pass a lot but the ball always winds up with the person who willl score.
