May just fall today....... Good artical.. http://www.syracuse.com/sports/poststandard/index.ssf?/base/sports-0/1083921517256152.xml

The game vs. G'town starts at 3. I'll see if I can update this forum as to how close and when and if he break the record.

He has done it. Tied the record with Casey and Ryan at the G'town game. Waiting to see if he will break it at this game.

i think its lame that SU wont count scott nelson's fr. year at NC state in their totals, with that he'd be WAY ahead of mike. (100-225-325)

anyone think he'll get to 300?

yeah, i think he'll do it. but it's reasonable that they don't count nelson's freshman year because the competition is different. plus, it's the 'cuse scoring record, not the 'cuse graduating class record...at least that's how i see it.

what do you mean by that?

i have to agree with you about the it being the SU record and not the SU grad record.

Personally I think they should retire the jersey number #22 unless little Powell is any good and wants to go to 'Cuse.

It's not a powell only number. Gait wore it when he was at Cuse in the early 90's. When he left, their coach then laid it out and said "Anyone who thinks their worthy can wear this", it was picked up by Charlie Lockwood, he was a hell of a player. That led into the Powell era of #22.

Yeah, I know the Gait's wore it.

I just meant that the youngest Powell brother might wear it if he plays at Syracuse, which should (in my mind) end the life of the number for 'Cuse. The Gait's, Powell's, and other great players who wore it should all be rememberd and the jersey retired IMO.

I think Closey wore it too, for four years. The question is, who gets it next year?
