Because real men play on pavement.
Plus turf costs alot, is annoying to take in and out. Since hockey rinks are commonly used for roller hockey during box season. Cost is the main one however.

Yes. I am very aware.
To be honest concrete is brutal. No traction at all. I like turf, but I wear knee pads. SO i dont get burned on turf therefore much better.

AHAHHAHAHAHA its soo funny isn't it. The fact I have had surgery on both my knees. Yeah big laugh.
You try being born with horrible knees. Parents being told you may never run or skate. HAAHHHAHAa I have alot of problem. Knees, Shin Splints, Ulcers, Kidney Stone. And wear knee pads is what you get me at. Wow.

After being on both surfaces, from a goalie's view, I feel that the leg pads slide better on concrete than on turf. However, I get better traction on turf than on concrete. The key there is that you have to lift your feet on turf because of the grab it has on shoes.

Fellas, nobody answered the man's question....
manup5183....
It's simple. In Canada, hockey rinks are plentiful and are de-iced in the summer time. The are concrete underneath. This is the origin of boxla.
Here in the US, especially the farther south you go, we rely on indoor soccer arenas. These arenas are turf based. The league in Phill plays in an ice rink but they cover with Sportcourt because it is used for roller hockey. In DC, Baltimore and Colrodao, all of the rinks are turf...
Do you have contact info for your league???

I hate kneepads, its abotu tiem they didn't make us wear them, of you learned how to get smoked the right way you wouldn't have much pain in our knees, I have alot of experience in getting smoked :nut: you jsut fall on your stomach intead of the knees, might even get you some calls from the ref because it looks worse

Personally, I like to play on concrete, because when u hit kids, it hurts them a lot more than turf when they fall
