my coach had switched me to shooter this season after my whole life of playing creaseman. i have good shooting form, but im looking for every advantage possible. i need to know what mesh is designed for shooter position, except for hardmesh, which i dont like. i have no other mesh in my house except for hardmesh and i will order from jima for my first time after my question gets answered.

thanks for any input guys

Cata.

If you don't like the slippery feeling of hard.

Cata has alot more hold but it is a much better shooting mesh than soft.

I suggest good ol' traditional. Personally, I think Cata gets waaaay too soft waaay too quick. Traditional requires a little bit of mantenance, but once you have it they way you want it, you'll love it.

Traddy, lasted me a season. It's extremely annyoning though.

My team mate doesn't take care of his it looks like junk and shoots like it. Then I tell him to try and adjust the leathers when he complains after the shot goes in to the floor. I get a nice "blow Me".

Trad will last a life time indoor, but the adjustment isn't worth it.

Try rail mesh out for the shooter. Nice hold to it for win ups and dekes...

well i know you said u dont like hard mesh but canadian hard is a little different its not as slippery it grips the ball better and shoots nice as longs as its not wet and you playing box that shouldn't be a problem so that my advice.

Large diamond meshes are going to be MUCH harder, and take longer to break in. Also larger diamonds are more for hold, alot of field defensemen use it. The larger diamonds are going to slow your shot down.

Since your looking for something thats going to have a quick release but still be somewhat soft once broken in i suggest going with Cata. / Canadian mesh.

umm string medium mesh in properly? it's waht I use and my pocket is huge but doesn't hook and play the same as you

I would go for 8d, it doesnt take a long time to brake in, has a stong smooth release, and the whip is easily adjustable, give it a try

why do people get meshes mixed up...the more diamonds the greater the hold.. with less diamonds you will have a quicker realease

Well that's ironic.

Its the opposite.

Rail mesh comes in hard?

I made my own rails in cata.

I disagree on a U shooter... they are useless and prone to whip.

rail mesh blows, i know a guy who put his in the oven not relizing it was half plastic and well it melted,

for shooter worked in hard mesh or brand new cata, some of the best shoters in the game use trad, merachek, gait, sanderson. but with trad i would recomend a high shallow pocket.

Its the opposite.

not trying to say your wrong, but on jimalax it says 8D and 7D are for players trying to maximise shot speed.

That's true... speed

He said bigger diamonds means quick release... and smaller mean hold. Its the opposite.

10d greatest release

5d greatest hold

7d mix of both. Very good for shot speed since it has good hold, and doesn't lose to much release. So smooth release but hold for cranks would be be greatest speed. But we aren't field. Since we can have huge pockets 10d is the best choice, since you have the "BEST" release. And can make a pocket to accomodate for the slight lack of hold.

Are we clear now?

why would you put any mesh in the oven to begin with?

ok. now im thinking of putting soft mesh inside my head. why do so many NLL'ers use soft mesh, and why do most people on here hate it??? is it bad??? and is there any mesh at all that can help reduce lip?? or does that all depend on how you string the head.

Most NLL's have alot fo whip...

I hate soft mesh because it has alot of whip and is inconsistent... it makes a hella good pocket though

See, I don't really like soft mesh either, and was gonna order some Cata and let my coach string it up. But he strung it with soft mesh, and I'm really starting to dig it. It has great hold, I can have a huge pocket, and it has very little whip if strung correctly.

get that catapolaten mesh (not sure on spelling) but its really good you can get it hard or soft and its made difrently and it grips the ball raelly nicely so i would go with that if i was looking for a pocket for some shooting. Also buy a nice heavyier shaft it will make it easier to put some power to your shot
