I'm thinking of buying a harrow shaft but I want one thats really durable, weights not really an issue. I was thinking the box shaft, but is that shaft legal for field? like, other than the weight, what is the differece between the box and field shafts?
thx

oic so I have to cut the extra 2 inches off for it to be legal?
can I do that without voiding the warranty?

I am pretty sure that you can buy box's in field length. And they are the same thickness as a regular shaft, only the Howitzers are thicker.
Edit: Sorry, I checked and I was wrong, they only come in 32"

well i heard that there was some breakage problems with the field stick and that the box was more heavy duty, which seems to be the case since it is is heavier as far as weight and is advertised as having an extra forty grams for strength. murr44 said he cut his down so I was wondering about the warranty on it.
So pretty much for field I should just get a field attack stick?

cutting off part doesnt void the warrenty. hrrow has great customer service they would definatly understand the shafts are too long for feild.

If they accept pinching and dye jobs on their heads, I don't see why they wouldn't accept 2 inches cut off a shaft. Tell me what they say though, I was thinking about getting a box.

If you are looking for added strength in a shaft for field lacrosse, you should take a look at the Howitzer. You could use a box shaft, but depending on the league rules, you might have to cut it down 2". The same would go for the monster. If you were to cut the shafts down, it would not void the warranty. We have a 30" and 32" version of the howitzer, so that would save you the trouble. All of the shafts would work for field lacrosse, it would just be a matter of having to cut them down or not.
So it wouldn't void the warranty so I think I'm going to buy the box shaft unless I hear that the howitzer is like amazing b/c i don't think i'd like the contoured grip and its another $40

So 32" plus typical 10" long head = about 42" = legal field shortstick, no? If not, they're easy enough to cut.
As far as the guy trying to decide whether to buy a Harrow Box or not:
Take a close look at the lower-price Harrow, the one without the special paint. It's priced at about half as much as the other Harrows, and weighs the same as a box............draw your own conclusions.
Just saying $40 plus dollars for a lacrosse stick paintjob is pretty steep IMO!

We have a club school team and we play box and field. We have guys that use box and field for both. I am wnting to get a field because I like it shorter being an attack and I think they look cooler. The durability is about the same cause neither of them dent or band. But since they are the smae weight I am guessing that the field is less likely to snap. I don't mind their weight and have a light head anyway (an answer which i love, i thought about upgrading but i couldn't find anything else i liked as much. )

um yeppers i think im gonna get a monster or a box and just sand it down with a belt sander some until its around 30-31" just to make sure its legal. I can just put a butt end over that end if it turns out rough rite? as for breakage i hear some saying they never break and some say they break after like 30 sec after they come in the mail but im not worried b/c ive had a lot of bendage on my metal poles and if it breaks im confident in their customer service since their sales dept was so helpful.
