View Full Version : MLL Draft?

The fact that Rochester finally has a no.1 pick has me fairly interested in this year's draft. Joe Walters is the favorite for no.1 right now, but I ask, do you take him no.1? One disturbing figure I've realized for him is that he seems to be a non-factor and shut down during the biggest of games for Maryland, especially after seeing him taken out of the game against UMASS. He also was held to no points during the ACC final when Maryland played Virginia, which had to be their second biggest game of the year aside from Saturday's. I am having some doubts whether Walters can be effective in the clutch and against the best competition, which he will be facing every day in the MLL.

walters has proven himself threw out his college career for sure, two games are nothing compared to his amazing acomplishments in a maryland jersey. so yes, i think he will be effective in the MLL.

Any other possible candidates for the no.1? Rochester needs help almost all over the field.

Morris is the best offensive player in the country. And Walters was shut down because that's what opposing defenses were trying to do. In the MLL, that won't happen.

what makes you think that MLL defenses wont try to shut down Walters, I think that Morris should go over Walters.

Dude he's the only player in college on Team USA. He might not go to the Rattlers but he will go in the first five picks. Rattlers might be looking at Matt Ward too. Mabye Jack Reid for a good pole.

the ACC tourney wasn't good, but saying he shutdown saturday isn't entirely fair. jack reid played a particularly good game, even for him. and reid is custom made to shut down walters; walters is a sprint-around-the-field, come-off-screens, get open, catch the ball, shoot it type of player. jack reid is a "do whatever you want, you aren't getting the ball. i'll use telekenisis (sp?) if it comes to that" kind of defender.

you do have a point, i'm just arguing for the fun of it and saying that, at least on saturday, i'm not sure there's much he could've done

to speak on his behalf, there isn't much pure-deny in the MLL, because most players can dodge so well. you can't help them out by playing pure-deny on a player, and giving them more room to dodge away. on the other hand, you can't sag off, because they can all shoot so well lol. so yeah, i think you'll see better defensive MLL teams deny him, but teams that are short on defensive depth can't afford to

i saw walters against bucknell and he didn't really prove a lot to me. i was shocked at the speed of his shot but he realy only had one move and it never worked. I think he'll still go number 1 but i think matt ward is the better pick
