Tewaarton:

Sean Morris- Consistant and balance attackman. A great dodger who can score and feed. He lead his unseeded team to the finals of the NCAA tournament.

Joe Walters- Although inconsistant he can control games such as his 6 goal outing against Hopkins. Hes a strong left handed shooter and was the only collegiate player to make the U.S. team. He broke Marylands point scoring and goal scoring records.

Matt Ward- Lead the undefeated UVA team to the finals with his consistant performances. He is strong, and not flashy, but can put up big numbers. He can score and feed.

Chris Unterstein- Lead Hofstra as it made its huge turn around from last year. Another balanced attackman than can score or feed. Getting knocked off by Umass in the quarterfinals could hurt his exposure, but he has proven to be consistant and one of the best in the country.

Kyle Dixon- An extremely balanced midfielder who can score, feed, play strong defense and has great vision. He is a leader on UVA's midfielder and is a key to their success. He has been relatively consistant but has really caught fire in the playoffs.

So much for a non scoring player or underclassmen winning the Tewaarton.

Agreed. This game had a huge impact on the outcome of this award, it dropped Morris' stock a lot with his one point performance, and helped Ward and Dixon tremendously.

-5 goals in nat'l championship
-sets record (held by gary gait) for most goals in tournament
-leads virginia to undefeated record and nat'l championship win
-does it all with a broken hand

It has to go to Ward

Ward. No doubt. Unless the judges are deaf, blind, and/or in a coma.

i agree with yall, not to mention that the board is made up of dom starsia and coaches that matt ward dropped points on when they beat them, Cannel included. I personally like morris though, and would like to see him win it but he just can't step up when he needs to, maybe hes been hanging out with Joe Walters too much. Also just want to add that if the committee takes into account surroudning players ward, dixon, and joe will sink considrably and unterstein and morris will look even better.

If Matt Ward can break a record once set by gary gait, they should just hand him the award!

ward no doubt, he out right deserves it. winning the championship did help though, if UMASS had won Morris would win. IMHO it seems like the commitee puts too much emphasis on how the individuals team fairs in the tourney instead of the actual player. Ward could've played the same game he did today, but have his team lose, and most likely end up getting robbed at the awards cerimony (unless Morris had a game that showed he deserved it).

first off, i love ward, so dont' take this like i'm bashing. however, ward has so many weapons around him...i dunno i hope i'm not the only one thinking like if morris was on that team he'd have scored a junkload too in the "ship". ward scored a lot cus he isn't even the most worried about player on their team. they have dixon, and then rubeor (next year tewaaraton) and then poskay...any can score 4-5 goals in any game.
i guess i'm the only one who is saying one finals game can't show all about a players season. "how soon they forget"-morris led his team to 3 straight upsets, one over walters...yet one game where he is LOCKED OFF BY THE DRAFT'S TOP PICKED DMAN and u say he played horribly. as mentioned, ward gets Locked Off=no touches. ward has no good teammates=even less points.
i was never for walters getting it...u can't give the guy credit for something he didn't do in college (Make USA team). however, i think morris should have received it, b/c of above listed circumstances. nevertheless, ward is definitely worthy, and congrats to him.
