an al600 is not so good. i would spend the extra $20 for a cu31. a rotor is cheap and isnt bad if u pinch it. again if u r willing to spend a little more a cyber is a great head and its only 38 unstrung

At Dicks they have a AL6000 complete stick for 40 bucks. Two defenders on my team have then and I like it. It's a great deal.

yeah i would say av8 on the cu31. make sure you get the new av8 with the floating ballstop though. those things are really stiff compared to the old ones.

do any of you who posted acutally play defense? i'd rather kill myself then use an al6000. using one of those will make you hate playing defense. i use a kryptolyte, and having a light stick that you can whip around and do tricky stuff with is (part of)what makes defense fun. it'd say it's worth it to dish out the dough, if you possibly can.

and the head.... if you cant throw because you have a bad head, it kind of defeats the purpose of the game and will be frusturating.

if you want to try defense, borrow a friends extra stick for a while maybe.

Perfect post, buying worthless stuff like a AL600 will REALLY turn you off to playing D. If you just want to screw around for a bit, borrow some of your friends or teammates stuff to throw with. If you end up liking it, you can get a "decent" set up for under or around 100. For now try borrowing stuff off people. Otherwise if you really want your own stuff just to mess with, I reccommend E-Baying and getting a STX Sabre for as cheap as possible than using a head you already have.

behind_the_back is sort of right, except for the fact that a head has almost nothing to do with how a stick throws, but rather it's the stringing. And since you're new, I'm doubting that you can string, so you'll want to get someone on the team who can to string your stick for you. But the head doesn't matter at all, but I do agree, AL6000 D-shafts are very heavy.

If you go to a Dick's Sporting Goods or a Sports Authority, check out their lacrosse section. If they have long sticks, by one that's cheap but comfortable, and get a cheap head.

yeah dont buy bad gear. spend a bit more money for something worth the money. yoou can sell it to someone later.. and for a head. you can use the one you have unless you dont have one then i would strongly recomend the revolution becuase you can use it for any position and is only 45 bucks unstrung where i live.

idn how cheap it is but i got a warrior platinum alloy and that things a beaut. definite visible scrapes n scratches but no real structure-threatening dents and its pretty light. for heads, i wouldnt reccomend anything too too pinched. wider head = slightly easier catching, and a little easier to block passes.

If you're gonna play D, be a monster. Get a wooden shaft. They are cheaper and better than most other shafts for 1/3 the price. When you check someone with a wooden shaft, you leave your mark. As for a head an Odyssey with a decent string job is good. You could get your stick for about $70.

A hype would work very good. I got one for 40$ w/shaft. I use it and it works very good. I havent seen it in many places, but i got one at sports authority so they may have one there.
