I know there are like a millon threads already started on this topic, but, every answer I've read sounds like the person was unsure of himself.

Heres my question: What gear should I get for defense?
Head
Stick
Arm Pads
Shoulder Pads...

Thanks

Most ppl use a fairly wide, stiff head for D, like lacrosse64 mentioned, altho to those I would add Bionic.

Shaft, I think the trick is to find the right tradeoff for you btw weight and strength, plus grip can factor in. F15's and 22's (Brine) hold up pretty well, the Kryptos (Warrior) and Titaniums (most every company) are not bad either. I hear a lot of good things about the new Harrow longpole as well.

I agree on armpads, I use the STX Apollo, some ppl wear just elbow pads.

Shoulder pads, a lot of cats will wear just a liner, or the old foam junks from Adams USA that football players wear under their pads. Rhinoskins aren't too horrible, altho they get stinky.

Yeah you can. I usually spray mine with Fabreze when I'm done playing.

yeah i agree, fabreeze is the greatest product ever made. but i use a revo on a diamond (super light, grippy, and makes sparks when you slap check someone's stick). for "arm pads" i use trace elbow pads, these things are amazing, they offer absolutly NO protection but they keep it legal and i have a lot of movement. for shoulder pads i used to wear those adams pads that football players wear, but after getting hit with a couple of shots, i decided to get some old warrior pads, they're nice, and offer a lot of movement.

i'd disagree about the bionic. i think its too pinched for slapping down passes effectively. that's why i like the X2. lots of stick face area to wave up there. i'm with you on the apollos, i dont usually wear a helmet when coaching, but i ALWAYS wear my apollos. they are the first thing i put on when i get to practice.

shoulder pads. wear big shoulder pads, especially if you like to hit. in my day we didnt have to wear shoulder pads, and my shoulders are ruined. painful. surgery someday, but not this year according to my orthopod.

dont end up like me, wear decent shoulder pads.

fabreze! great stuff, i'm a dog owner, it's the only thing that keeps the dog car drivable :)
