I have a few questions...
1) I think im doing fine in practice like not amazing but ok, but in games i just blow sometimes. I'm the back-up goaile and our starter is amazing he makes between 20 and 30 saves a game so when i get sent in it seems like they're expecting me to be him. Anyway, how can i prepare myself to go into a game in the middle of a game. For example if he got a penality or we were crushing the other team? Are there any things you guys do for warm up that doesnt have to do with shots?
2) I don't think my reaction speed is that fast so is there anyway to improve that?
3)

check some of the previous posts on this subject... but you might want to see if you can listen to music on the sidelines

Yea, find a song that gets you pumped up and put it on a cd/md/mp3 or whatever you have have and listen to it before you go in. I have a little pre-game ritual that i go through and thats what i do before the refs ask for the captains. Seems to work

If your starting goalie makes 20-30 saves a game, your defense SUCKS!!! The other team should not be taking 20 decent shots /game IMO!! It 's the D's fault if you are that busy between the pipes!!!:agree :banghead :bye

well like, for quickness, i dunno how many coaches have told you to throw against a wall, but you need to. it helps a lot. also, just try to get plenty of shots in practice and stay awrm on the sidelines. throw or something, keep your arms and feet moving. your feet are just as important as your hands when it comes to moving (stepping to the ball and positioning etc.)

If your serious about getitn better, build a cage and order a net (or try to find smethin else that would work if you dont wanna spend much). Then have a dad/brother/friend shoot on you at home. Thats helped me a ton. I have my brother shoot on me just about daily. During practice, if your not doin much, ask your coach if you can grab somebody and go take some shots in the other net. You have to practice to make improvement.
