frigging pocket making me mad

I strung up a pocket for a kid on my team. His pocket is deep, but legal. I've tried everything to get it to throw, but nothing is working. I've even taken his pocket out and put it back with new sidewall, top, and throwing strings, and it keeps throwing low. I've loosened all the throw strings and nothing is helping. It's so loose right now that the ball hits the head when I throw.

I know his pocket is gonna have to become a lot shallower, but are there any other suggestions? Right now it's strung as a Powell pocket, too. Would changing to 3 straight throwing strings make it better?

when I had strung my new stick I had the same problem as you. Usually its the shooting strings that causes problmes like those.

make sure the bottom of the sidewalls are tight, and dont worry about defining the pocket now because you want to string it correctly and be able to define teh pocket later as the stringing starts breaking in.

The mesh was hard mesh to start with, but is broken in really well right now. I'll try to tighten the sidewalls and keep the pocket from being too deep. It'll piss him off, but at least it'll throw.

I had exactly the same problem as you actually.. I used three shooters, two hockey laces on the bottom and a nylon on the top, thath seemed to work pretty well

Make the pocket a little shallow adn use the ball and the butterknife trick, and I think the pocket will be just like he wants it.

You could try tightening the bottom string, where the mesh attaches to the back of the throat on the head...

my little brother had that problem too. I played with his shooters and he now has 4 strings in his pocket, 1 nylon, 2 straight, and one u/v, all gradually getting tighter as you move up. Throws great and is actually illegal at the moment so i hafta go fix it.
