i know what box is like and ive played it for a while and have played both with and without bicep pads and i found them really annoying everytime i wore them... but for this summer i plan on playing box like 3-4 times a week instead of like once a week. should i wear them or just not wear them and suck it up when i get hit?... and also how many of you guys actually wear them?

Depends on the meat on your arms, how fast you are and what if you just play D. I would recommend them because they will take the guess work out when you meet a guy who really knows how to crosscheck. That might be just enough to throw your game off.
Just tape them on and they'll stay out of your way.

I haven't had a broblem with mine. I think that they are well worth it. I like being able to bend my arm the day after a game.

Use them, you never know. You may come up against someone like me.
I am not bragging... I mean thats exactly where I aim. Right where the gap would be.
No pad. Lots of pain.

I go for the elbows and wrists, but ya wear them that's where you get hit the most

No you don't. You got me in the bicep a ton.
Oh, just a thing here... I don't wear them. I am primarily D though so I don't need them

Superman,
Where are you playing in Upstate NY? I'm a goalie looking to play this summer. The only league I was aware of was the one in Tully. If you don't mind, send me a pm with the league info. Thanks.
Sorry to post this on the thread but your pm box was full.

if you think bicep pads are too big and annoying you can just get those shin guards from soccer and put one on your lower arm cause thats the one that gets hit the most and because they are a slippery plastic it is harder for kids to keep there stick on em and its funny to see em cranking on your arm slipping all around and then they try that place and push you jsut spin

just about everyone wears bicep pads in canada.
we wear them from the day we start playing though so we don't notice any restriction in movement. I suggest the Rebel ones made by Brine. They stay in place nicely and cover alot of your upper arm. I personally feel that they are the most valuable piece of equipment for a box lacrosse player (other than stick of course).

Cut open an old pair of hockey pants and use the fibres that protect your thighs. Just tape them on. Not as bulky and heavy. Don't quite protect as well but it is better than nothing.

I used to wear 2 but have only been using one these days. I'm right handed and have just barly enough left to throw a short pass. That means that I spend almost all of my time showing my left arm and that's why I wear the pad on that arm. When I take shots on my right arm, I just suck it up. I wont get enough to really do any dammage and I turn the pad into the defender whenever I intend to let them beat on me. Just know, if you come up against a strong crosschecker, you will be gurting the next day no matter what you have on your arm but having the bicep pad will make a noticable difference. I you find them too restricting, shave them down. All they do is spread out the area of impact. Even if it's just the length of your bicep, it's better then just the area the shaft hits.

be a real man and play with out them if you dont like the fell of them. but make sure if you do get hit there and it hurts dont show the pain.
