I know this should be in the recruiting forum but for some reason it wouldnt let me....how young should you start the "recruiting process" and trying to get exposure...

you could start your freshman year but you really want to make sure your on track and being noticed by coaches in your sophmore year and then junior year is when everything is finalized.

Definitley get started the summer after freshman year, just go to some major camps or tourneys with a good team and get your name out there. This whole recruiting thing is getting pushed back earlier and earlier and the sooner you can just get your name out there the better. You can generate some intrest, but nothing huge at a young age. But by far the most important summer is the summer after your junior year, thats HUGE.

In the future the process will start when you start eating solid foods and are not crawling. Diet and posture will be important.

That's a young freshman...Well I'm a 15 year old freshman and so are all of my friends. So I think 15 is the average freshman age the youngest in my grade is 14 so it is possible..

i didnt even know i wanted to play lax in college until the summer before my junior year and im going to a good d1 school, so that shows you how late you can start and still get recruited. I would, however reccomend starting at least sophmore year with school lists and such. than email before you start your junior year.

just to clear something up, I'm from australia and my impression was that a freshman is someone in first year college, but you guys are saying stuff about 12 year old freshmen and im a little bit confused.

P.S. i wish the sport was bigger and we had lax camps down here...

Ya, definitely the summer after your junior year if not sooner. Also starting the recruiting process during your frosh. and soph. years is kind of a waste becuase under NCAA recruiting rules colleges cannot have any contact with you (Phonecalls, letters, emails, etc...) until your Junior year.

absolutely not, its good to introduce yourself (through camp or letters, ect.) to the coaches you might get an oppertunity to play for in the future. It gets your name out there, and also some of your stats and stuff, it lets colleges know your interested and more importantly dedicated.

ya yuo shood definately email coaches after yuor freshman year....thats what i did at least....you'll probably get an e-mail back saying that they contact you again when yuor junior year approaches b/c of ncaa rules, but d3 schools can talk to you whenever

question...if i wanted to try to start early like this summer before freshman year should i just mainly go to camps at universities that im interested in? i wana try and go to a DI school so i cant necessarily start contacting coaches and stuff this early. any other ideas of other things i can do to start gettin my name out there?

thanks

the fact is if you haven't made a magazine cover by age 15 you are screwed.

no, not true. there was a kid from illinois of all places this year who was recruited by only 1 division 3 college after his junior year. he is now going to play in the ivy league after being recruited by tons of schools like oh say, uva.

the moral of the story is that sure it helps to start as early as possible, but a great summer after junior year will still go a long way.

I have been playing in summer tournamnets since the summer after 7th grade (now I just finished 9th grade) but as im still playing at the u-15 level like every other frosh, there really are no scouts or recruiting. It all starts next summer, but i have been thinking about it and trying to talk 2 coaches.
