Well i'm just starting this year, and the only stick that i knew was good was the Evo Pro because a lot of my friends had it, so i saved up and got the stick, seems pretty good to me :)

Usually beginners use whip-less heads with a very wide face. It makes it easier to catch and scoop.

beginners use sticks that feel comfortable to them, it could be wide, pinched, whipless, or whippy, yes you can say that beginners tend to the more wide heads because they cant catch the ball as easy with a pinched stick. its usually what the player likes or how the factory strung their stick.

I have a pinched head for my first season, and it somewhat challenges me to catch good, so I can catch very easily now. The beginner heads they make are wide though.

We actually just started a thread on this very topic

I hope this may help you out a little bit. Also the amount of whip in a head is determined by the stringing. You can string an evo pro without whip, and a rotor without whip if you know what you are doing. (We also have information on this in the stick tech faq.)
