watch out for westside in the next few years... went from 0 to hero in four years (D2 champs)... actually westside scored the same against st.johns as highland park did.

Was it against CC that our attackman bowed to your coach because he had the penalty called on his pole?
CCLaX24
05-28-2004, 12:54 PM
yea something like that
our coach is like the president of officials or some ****
so we got a penalty and yall went on a 3-1 run
lost to yall by 1
it wasnt his fault though... the ref missed the call our coach just pointed it out i guess
dont worry we hate him very much for it....
lol jk hes a good guy...he takes alot from us!lol
its great

Hey, sorry if this is off-topic...but I'm a coach moving to Austin from NH and MA and I was wondering if you Texas guys/gals knew of any openings down there for coaching in the area? Thanks, my boy used to play for Westlake, so I must give a shoutout to them. Even if they may suck. Not sure. See? I need help, "y'all".

Westwood high school's head coach retired this year, I'm unsure of who you should contact if interested or if they have another coach in line.
Anderson is in need of an assistant Varsity head coach, you might want to go to www.ctlax.org to look, they have all the websites posted and have contact numbers for openings
Actually now that I think about it, McCallum, my own school is in need of a full time head coach, we currently have 2 coaches planing on being assistants, including our old head coach who wants to spend time with his daughters as they grow. Go to www.ctlax.org and contacts if you're interested. Hope you enjoy Austin and get involved in the lacrosse community.

Georgia, I wouldn't really trust the laxpower standings completely Westlake who went 0-11 is ranked abouve CC who was 2-9, I believe CC beat them also, so I just wouldn't fully believe the laxpower standings

Fort Bend has a team they are DII

Ya ya we were (5-8) it sucked. Mainly because for 3 games we had one sub, and for one of those games we had no short sticks to sub. And on top of that we lost a middie for 3 games cuzz he got shot in the eye by a paintball, another one missed a few games for personal reasons, and we lost a senior attackmen all year to a torn ACL. This season sucked but next year we'll be OK.

Central has historically had one of the worst teams in Central. They should move to D2.

6 years ago central catholic was ranked high on lax power and had a record of 10-4 on the season...the team has gone downhill since, but this year we got additions of several players, one from up north, ironically....
a goalie from the chicago area, a few attackmen from nearby rival enemy st marys hall
like always i believe we will have a successful season from our standards and who knows maybe we will reapeat against AUSTIN WESTLAKE

You said you're number 12 for Central? Do you play attack or midfield? I can't really remember who you are, but I think you might've scored one of the 3 goals for your team...unless they were all Gainey's. I started playing lacrosse with Gainey and truth be told, he's one of the only players on your team that I ever respected.

when i think central d2, i only think of one word - Covey
FoDotSix
01-19-2005, 11:28 PM
Covey is an awesome player, I'll never say otherwise, but he didn't get to the D2 Championship on his own. He had plenty of help on his way there. If you're going to say that Covey is Texas Division 2 Lacrosse you're ignorant of the talent that lies there. If Covey is the focus of D2 then why didn't we win state? He played the entire game, and we didn't win, in fact, we only scored 1 goal the entire second half of the game. So did Covey win D2? No. Was he a big part of getting St. Anthony's there? Yes. But he had a team with heart and desire to win that backed him up. I practiced with/against Covey every practice my senior season, his footwork and shot are absolutley incredible, but he's still human. One person cannot sum up the entire talent of D2 just because he went to SMH. I'm sure Covey would be very flattered by your comment, but I'm also sure he'd agree with me that no one person can take a team to a State Championship in Texas, D1 or D2. There ARE 10 players on the field, mind you.

attack...
yea gainey was alright... natural lacrosse skills... probably the most underrated player in texas... he was quick and although he wasnt big and didnt fit the part... he sure played the part....
hes currently playin lax at austin college now

I completely agree that Covey wasnt the St. Anthonys team. We had midfielders that could shut him down. He is probally the best player for St. Anthony's and attracts a lot of slides so he can assist other shooters.

YOU can shut down Covey? I practiced on him all of last season and that kid is unstoppable. There's no way a midfielder from anywhere other than North/South could cover him. Central is really weak now, and I HIGHLY doubt that anyone at McNiel could "shut him down." You can't honestly be refering to the A&M Tournament, can you? Playing out there was like playing in a rice patty in Vietnam, plus we could destroy you guys last season on a real field...
