I went out today and bought a new head for my lax D pole. I bought myself an STX Bionic... good decision?

my problem with the bionic is how pinched it is. as a D man you want a wider head, better for catching, and swatting down/snagging passes from the O. one of my defensemen started the season with a fuse (just as pinched as a bionic) on his longpole, he was dropping everything in site, and spending a lot of time on the bench. i told him to change his head (he put on an excalibur) now he's starting. its like he's a different player.

personally, ive been playing D since 8th grade (with one year as a goalie) i'm using an X2 nice and strong, nice broad head for snagging errant passes, as well as the ones meant for you.

catching is harder with a long pole, way more stick to deal with, the head is 3 feet further away, even if you choke up, its still further away than a shortie.

bottom line, dont make it harder on yourself.
dropped passes = time on the bench. and that aint no fun.

I love my Bionic personally, in terms of contol, but it is harder to catch with then one that's wider. Part of the reason I ilke the Bionic might be that I'm playing a lot of LSM and I like having the ball in my stick.

Spenny...we agree on very little as far as defense goes lol. I prefer a more pinched head just because of the style I play. It has never affected the way I play in the least bit and I almost never drop passes atleast ones that are in reach. I use a g-force and woodn't trade it for anything, If you can catch properly it doesn;t make a differance how pinched your head is.

As far as catching being harder with a long pole I disagree again. I catch much more naturally with a long pole and have just as easy if not an easier time catching with an lp as I do with a shortie. Maybe a pinched head affects a beginner but I really see no major differance in it.

(Back on topic) I am not a fan of the bionic but it is good...nice pinch, ok scoop i ges, strong, just a lil heavy but that doesnt matter. I dont know why I don't like it I just don't but anyway it should be fine for you on lp I know a lot of people who use it.

that's pretty funny... different courses for horses.

your skill level is really the determining factor. if you get the job done. you are good to go. and wont be sitting on my team. if you are dropping passes, you will be on the bench. same goes for shot selection. i tell my players, you can take any shot you want. but if you do some trick shot it better go in, especially if it wasnt your only choice.

my players get a lot of freedom. they only get benched for bad choices, not bad plays.

what exactly is your style that you need the pinched head?
ive strung my x2 so that it has great hold. i dont have a problem keeping it in, its also pretty accurate to shoot with

No, lol. The Bionic is a great head for D. Some of the best D-men in our school use it, and some dont. Its all a matter of playing style and personal preference. It should do good for you, dont worry. Usually people are drawn to buy heads that match their style of play so, you should do fine.

Yeah, Bionic is great on defense...I am probably gonna buy another. The only problem is that they re styled it and made it a little more pinched and flexy...I think.

the bionic i have kicks ***, but you gotta get some catapultion from jimalax, a shooting nylon, reg. shooting string, and a deep v/u shooter. also a loose bottom string and low pocket, amazing grip, nice throw, (yet i throw kinda weird so dont hold me on that)

im not a big fan of the bionic mainly because its too pinched to be used for knocking down passes. by the way, why are you posting this after you bought the stick

I use both the X2 and the bionic. It definitely elps to have a wider head for catching, but the X2 bent WAAYY too easy. If you flipped the head over, it went stright up on one side and sidewayson the other. Good for laughs, not ball control. Doesn't matter too much though...

hey, you can always go to ****'s and switch the tags on the heads ($20 for a Bionic head anyone?) They have no clue what's right. Actually, forget I said this.
