ive done both, not vary good at either. for wakeboardiing lean back on the start and dont fight the boat when its pulling you up, just let it pull and you should get up ok. cant really offer too much advice on barefoot bc i havent done it in so long i forget how...except dont curl your toes. for a board size just go to a wakeboard company's website and they should have a sizing chart, im more of the waterski/kneeboard/tube kinda person so im not sure how wakeboard sizing wokrs

for wakeboarding- make sure when turnin heelside lean back and toeside lean forward because catching an edge truly sucks and can be painful.
for bare foot- good luck and don't fall on your face

whats sucks about barefoot is that there is no good way to stop... any way you do it you have to crash into the water at full speed and its gonna hurt

yea, i have been reasearching wakeskating a bit and been to that site, im really interested in getting a wakeskate cuz it looks like a cheaper and a lot of fun alternative to wakeboarding, which costs like 300 dollars
can i just wear my old skateboard shoes for wakeskating, or do i need like special shoes, also how well will old skateboard shoes hold up?

you can wear old skateboarding shoes, they make special shoes but they are definatly not a priority, most people just drill holes on the bottom of their shoes for drainage like i do.
wakeskates can be 50 bucks to 300, none above that.

barefooting's pretty easy once you get the hang of it...
it's easiest if you start off of something above the water (ie a houseboat), then get the boat to start moving away from you at about 1/2 the speed you'll wanna be going (for you...about 22-25mph), then, when the rope is just ( i mean like a split second before) about to get taught, jump out and away from the houseboat, and lean back A LOT (do like 1/4 backflip almost)
at this point, the driver needs to steadily increase the speed of the boat (don't "slam" the throttle like you would in waterskiing....if this happens you can say goodbye to your arms), but he needs to do it quick enough to where you'll be going that speed when you hit the water
then when you hit the water...flex your feet (force your ankles down) and bend your knees
last step: ride into the sunset
good luck

i wakeskated once...i got 2 tries on a wakeboard and i couldn't get up (we didn't have much time plus it was soo busy) but on wakeskate i got up i think my 1st or 2nd try, so much fun!

is wakeskating easy? im able to do a few things on a wakeboard (i can do simple grabs, 180's, ride switch, obviously jump the wake, just simple stuff like that). And i used to be pretty good at skating before ankle injuries forced me to quit (i could switch tre flip, kickflip a 9 stair, yada yada). i was wondering if wakeskating would give me a similar rush to skateboarding and how easy or hard it is because i may get one for my next visit up to NY where my grandparents live on a lake.

basically wakeskating is for people who cant wakeboard or just suck at it. ive been wakeboarding for like 6 years now. and the size of the board depends on what you plan on doing with it examples are like freesytle or just riding. smaller boards are usually for doing tricks and all that stuff bigger are usually just for riding to ride. i would recomend a cwb those boards are amazing. and its not a good idea to do a dock start first try because if you fall backwards you nail your head on the peer. when trying to wakeboard lean back alot when the boat starts revving it engine and you feel your getting dragged act like your reppeling when you rockclimb and turn your board sideways when you get up. stay in the wake if your a beginner.

i live on a lake so im a regular in both wakeboarding and barefoot. first time i barefoot i tried a 360 and snaped (not just broke) my collarbone and got a bad concussion...it hurt like a b**** then but i laugh at my stupidity now. so what im pretty much saying is dont try anything to fancy too soon or else you will pay.

I wakeboard, Wakeskate, Can ski Slamon. I love it. We get out during summer proberly every 2nd weekend. Over Xmas we hoilday right on the murray river (Australia) for 3 weeks and its just flat out the boat dosnt stop. I have never tried bearfooting because id rather just focous on my wakeboarding and you can only bearfoot when the waters like glass lol.

i go wakeboarding with my cousins all the time. it was really hard for them to all get up the first time, but for me it was too easy. i have been snowboarding for about 6 years to i am sure that helped. you just have to work your center of gravity around with your balance. i also slalom ski alot too. IMO it's easier than two skis. i have never tried the barefoot thing, but i am going to try it this summer.
