I am wandering how people can get addicted to adaral and pain killers. And other stuff.
I take adaral for my ADD and hate it, I am glad that I don't have to take it this summer because I don't have school.
And when I broke my arm I had to take pain killers, I stopped taing them 1 1/2 weeks after I broke it.
So I am wondering, how do some people get addicted. And do you know anyone who is addicted.

for a broken arm you are taking a weak painkiller nothin strong. i had oxycotton once and all i have to say is that it is the strongest stuff i have ever uses. i was numb for like ever. ive never been addicted to anything but i think painkillers are like marijuana you dont get addicted to the substance you get addicted to the feeling. i have a few friends who are pill poppers and they jsut like the numb relaxed trance it puts them in.pills arent my drug of choice tho.

Yeah I took Oxycodene for my kidney stones. . . the doc told me it was made from opiates. It was strong stuff. . . I could tell it was habit forming after I would take 1 when my kidney stone was long gone. Thank God I only had 1 bottle and not a constant supply of them or I would be addicted. You have to be careful with those things, they feel good, but wreak havoc on your liver.

it kinda depends on your body and your personality when it comes to getting addicted to things. like with aderal, it does the exact opposite to people w/out ADD as it does to people w/ ADD since its basically speed and some people naturally have addictive personalities and develop the belief that they cant funtion without the painkiller or whatever

i just had my acl reconstructive surgery and i was on oxycontin and perkacets. pretty heavy duty and they make you feel good and are just highly addictive. i didnt get addicted but you def have withdraw symptoms when you go off of them. at least i did, but it wasnt like hard to get off of them for me you just lower your dose until eventually you are on none. but i was only on them for like 1 1/2 weeks.

I agree. I take ritalin and have taken vicodin and vioxx before. I do not really like the feeling that much, and when there is nothing wrong with me, i would never pop these pills. But i know a lot of kids who would go crush up the aderal or ritalin and snort it. Messed up stuff right there.

hah i have like a pharmacy at my house. the doctor will prescribe me anything i want for my kidney stones... its very easy to get addicted to that stuff. i was boarder line addicted to oxycotin last year. its not fun to get off it after taking it for a week or two. i went through really bad withdrawls... i was really depressed for a couple weeks and id randomly throw up and all that stuff. not a fun time.

Wow, I can understand why it happens, but it has never happened to me. Only time I ever really really wanted to keep taking painkillers was when I lacerated my kidney. That SUCKS, everytime after you pee, you get this intense pain in your kindey like 10 minutes later.

it's weird....my body just doesn't seem to recognize opiates. I was given oxycodone once but it did less for my pain than the enormous dose pills of ibuprofen. All that happened was I got a little more relaxed, but it was barely noticable. It's like I'm a junkie with a tolerance, but I've never touched opiates...

Novacaine doesn't do much to be honest.
But when I had my kidney stone the pain kept making me throw up, and I'd throw up the pill. . . so I ended up with 3 pills of Oxycodene in my system. . . it had some scary effects, I was tripping out pretty much. I had a dream my sister walked into my room and I yelled at her, and I woke up curled in a ball in the corner of my room. They would always upset my stomach too.
Then I got these weird painkillers for my wisdom teeth, they had anti-nausea medicine built it. . . I took one, 30 seconds later I yakked all in the sink. And I never took another one. It was weird, I was just sitting there, got all hot, started sweating and turned super pale and just ran over to the sink. So I'm never taking another pain killer unless super neccessary.

I've never taken REAL painkillers
but I'm like addicted to advil, tylenol, exedrine, etc etc etc
I have the HIGHEST tolerance for that stuff. like it does nothing unless I take atleast 2 or 4 thousand mg... (FYI a regular advil is 200 mg)
anyway I average about 2k for a headache and 4k+ for big games (oh my poor little shinny splints)
I don't know it all depends......
But I will probably get an ulcer.

alot of painkillers including percocet, oxycontin and morphine are opiates. As far as I can tell all opiates are physically adictive.

I have to take aderol, the doc says I have ADD I personally dont htink I do. I hate taking it because its really hard for me to sleep when I do take it but if I dont take it my grades drop consderably. The year I started taking it in one marking period my grades went from b minuses to all A's. So I feel like if I dont take it I will not be able to do anything. So I guess I am kinda addicted, not a classic addiction but I feel like I need to take it for academic reasons.

Umm No, I don't know anyone that is addicted. ... But if you don't want your pain pills anymore I'll take them! They are easy to develop a problem with. Does anyone remember when Brett Favre had an injured thumb and admitted he was hooked on pills? I think the thing about it is that one person can take a handful a day and feel great and not see a problem, whereas someone like gigo or someone else can take one and not like the feeling it puts on your body. The first step is admitting there is a problem... now where have I heard that?
