It all depends on preference and what kind of goalie you are. If your a mobile goalie who comes out a lot then i would go with a les protective glove. If you are a goalie who stays in the crease most of the times i would go with a more protective glove.

The SuperFreaks are the most flexible glove, but at a cost protection. They still have some good protection, it just seems like on the thumbs it could have a little more.

Superstars are literally tanks they provide the most protection but they arent as mobile as they could be. In my opinion these gloves would b great if you stay in the crease a lot and dont need as much mobility but more protection.

Ive heard good things about the proamps and that they are flexible. I havent heard too much about the glads but they seem pretty good. Xfactors are very good as well. The only thing i would definetly go for are the beast rpm goalies with the huge cuff

the glads are amazing, they have the same pre-broken in feel as the proamps and are extremely flexy. even with the gigantic thumb that comes with these they are perfect for leaving the crease without sacrificing protection. after using these for the last season i see no reason to pay extra money for inferior freaks. and yes, they really are inferior. the glads are just extremely well all-around gloves. they just arnt as pimp looking as the freaks though.

LaxGoalieLZ

I had glads, but I think the freaks are better. I've used superstars (yeah laxgoalie, they are tanks =P), my glads, and freak goalie gloves, and the freaks are by far the most comfortable. Im the kinda goalie that like's to come out alot so I dont mind a little less protection. Until next year tho' im stuck with my glads. Oh well. :laugh

i dont use goalie gloves should i go get some?

LaXDaVe
05-17-2004, 10:30 AM
Yeah you definately should. It's extremely easy to break your thumb in goal so I think you should have them, even if you go for the cheaper ones. How old are you?

gonna be a freshman in high school next year

gladiators... much cheaper and just as good if not better than freaks... they are a little less flexible, but they do have better ventilation, protection, grip, and the leather they use on the palms are much more comfortable. not to mention there arnt any weird back-hand feelins when you twist your hands real quick for the save which the freaks have. on the positive side for the freaks, their mobility is superior (if un-necesaryily so) and they do have better wrist protection. but you still get tangled in the cords unlike the glads velcro and you have an uncomfortable wrist gaurd whereas the glads lack protection there. all in all, both good gloves, but for the money, glads are better value gloves and worth a serious look.

katy, have you tried any of these gloves out? i KNOW you didn't try on freaks, simply because they have to be custom ordered.

LaxGoalieLZ
05-18-2004, 07:35 PM
COuld have used a freinds or at a store.

I still think that superfreaks are the best glove out there IMO better than the glads although mucho denero (think that means a lot of money) I dont find them to be uncomfterable at all they are to me the "perfect" glove

yea im lookin to pick up some goalie gloves, how much exactly are the goalie freaks?
Im really leaning towards the glads, what is the flexibilty on those comparable to? And the thumb looks huge, i run out alot so i need really comfortable fingers. Protection?

LatinBabe

mhmm.. long story short smitt.. laxdave and i already had this convo. when i became a goalie i was a b*tch wo every guy i knew about trying their gloves, what they liked what they didn't what i should get and blah-blah-blah... also i went up to random people i have never met in my life at tournies and asked to see their gloves and started talking aout them and trying them on and so forth... by the time i was done i knew as much if not more about the current gloves on the market as any of the guys on the guys lax team... i wasnt going to go out and spend over $100 on gloves that were POS. i ended us choosing the glads because of the many reasons i stateed above.. so in conclusion.. yes i have tried on all these gloves, both new and broken in and i vote glads.

whew...

wait do they have thoughs in goalie gloves

WestSideLa X eR
05-18-2004, 09:40 PM
nope, lol

i think the next goalie product from brine will be goalie gloves or a goalie head....brine doesnt have anything to compete with the eclipse or the nemisis, and thier glove is outdated. Im guessing they'll come out with goalie supercrosses, with a ton of the bronx stuff on it

saiber

thatd be cool seeing how my coach has a wholesale acount with brine

My friend has some superstar goalie, they used to be stiff but he broke them in and now mobility isn't a problem I love them wouldn't mind using them on the field, and the thumb flap is a great idea for mobility and protection.

LatinBabe
05-18-2004, 10:35 PM
if they made crosse goalies i'd sell my glads in an instant... but.. i doubt they will. they will probably make element goalies or something...

WestSideLa X eR
05-20-2004, 12:34 AM
you never know....a goalie glove with the finger style of the crosses would be awesome

LatinBabe
05-20-2004, 12:43 AM
yeah it would be... but wouldnt you imagine the protection would suffer greatly? or the mobility to make it more protective would go down the drain? just a thought...

WestSideLa X eR
05-22-2004, 04:25 PM
yea but like a clear glove made entirely of the bronx stuff would be awesome lol

LB--how's the thumb on the glads?

05-24-2004, 01:37 AM
i just bought the superfreaks and even though i'm an attackman i think they are the best of them all...i tried on alot...with the freaks it doesn't feeling like you have this big honkin loose glove on your hand and the palm is really nice, almost feels like my bare hand on the stick...plus the mobility is amazing and there are hard inserts on all the fingers and thumbs...but good luck in your choice

just lookin at pics from the cuse-gtown game, noticed Pfieffer's gloves. They look like the gel goalies with a supercrosse thumb. Anyone know anything?

WestSideLa X eR

i just saw a pic of em, thier goalie gels, i didnt see a supercrosse thumb, it had the huge black thumb

WestSideLa X eR
05-25-2004, 09:38 PM
yea didnt want to bring up a dead topic but i didnt want to make another thread on gloves cause of this one

about to order glads but i need to know 3 things before i do

1. How tight is the glove to your palm? I liked the attack freaks because the palm was like a golf glove it was tight, i have the xfactor attack and the palm was all flappy and the whole glove didnt fit compactly on my hand if you get what im saying

2. the thumb....i only looked at the pics and they look huge, i run out of crease a lot so i need good flexibility so if the thumb is huge and hinders cradling etc., .....

3. Backhand protection: katy i remember you saying that the part where it says STX the protection is bad, but what about on the backhand? more that attack glads?

thanks

are the X-Factor Goalie Gels loose on the hand or tight?

corsair
06-30-2004, 10:20 AM
the gels are kinda loose but not in a bulky way, but I have large but short hands and they seem to fit me well
