The other day a player on the other team wore metal cleats to the game and kicked me. I had this huge cut and the refs only made him get new shoes. is this the right call?

Unfortunately, under NFHS rules, that is currently the correct call. I'm trying to get the rule changed to a 1:00 NR penalty for next year.

(If he kicked you on purpose with the cleats, the official could make it a USC penalty or even an ejection foul.)

it also depends on the cleats, because they are allowed if they are constructed in a certain way, something about rockwell hardness and such.

Nope. Metal cleats are always illegal in NFHS. Metal-tipped cleats are allowed if they meet a truly dizzying set of criteria which no official could possibly test in the field.

what a lot of players on my team will do is carry around a few different sets of spikes. i personally use the metal tipped ones when its damp, not rainy(rainy calls for the 3/4 inch mosters) they arent full metal, but they have metal on theinside so they dont wear down...ill try and get a pic of what is legal, from the ref's that ive asked.

EDIT: its not appearant unless you are looking for it, but on the cleat that is filpped on its side, the spikes are silver on the bottom, that is the metal right there. these arent like baseball metal spikes however.

Where i live it is legal to wear metal leats i dont no about you but if u get kicked with them i think it is your problem. Your just in the rong place at the rong time i guess. They should not have even made a call its life some time you get kicked and some times you gota live through it.
