Are most backyard goal pretty universal? I wanna buy a cheap goal just to shoot on when I get bored. I was also looking at "The Rage Cage" www.ragecage.com but idont know if its worth it cuz im not really gonna bring it anywhere.

dont get the rage cage. we got one for school and our coach was really excited, he spend most of the warming up time putting it togeter. The first shot on it, from a 9th grader on the team, hit near the corner and the thing went back into pieces. it only happend that time from one shot, but now its like 4-5 shots and it falls down.

id reccomend getting one online, wherever you find it cheapest. id try www.lax.com or www.sportstop.com

The guy at QCLax said shots on backyard goals will go through the netting after a month or two.

that depends on what kind of net you get, which if it comes w/ the cage is gonna do just that but if you can get a cage that comes w/ 4mm netting, wont rip at all

what i would recomend to do is to buy a cheap $89 Brine backyard goal and buy a nice net becasue you dont really need to have a nice goal...its just the net that makes the goal good.

If you get a rage cage with a proper net(a thick one) it will work fine. We have 4 of them we use in the winter at school. the only problem is that they move around a little bit on a gym floor if you continuiously rip shots at it.

i dont know how good that netting is, but i saw on brine's website it the collegiate goal, so it might work out but, i would go with Scrudatoboys and buy the cheap goal with the 4mm net to be safe, also it might even be cheaper his way

Here are some of the goals I was looking at. Personally, I'd rather stick with a comapny that specializes in lax. Im not big on the Franklin one, especially since it fold and has wheels.

Does anyone know where you can get a Practice Partner Silverline Lacrosse goal with free shipping? Or are they all sold out.

Try that website. The backstop nets come in all different sizes. I got one and it works great.

Just a warning to everyone who buys a Brine Backyard Goal, the net will rip! I dont have that hard of a shot (67 mph), and it still ripped. Just know that eventually a new net will have to be bought to replace the crappy 2.5mm one the Brine Backyard Goal comes with.

I have a Franklin goal in my backyard and it's great. Easy to set up and the net holds up fine. The only thing is that your probably gonna want to put the net up with zip ties or some extra crosslace with the Franklin goal because the nylon it somes with is very weak.

one ofthe guys i coach with and has a rage cage as does one of my masters lax teamates, ive never had it fold unless i'm taking it down, and weve used the heck out of them, for youth games, HS practices and masters practices/pickup games.
are you sure hes setting it up correctly? its not inexpensive, but then again, its a little more complex than a regualr goal. when i do finally buy a goal, that will be the one i buy.

I saw lax practice goals at Costco the other day for only $64.99. They are take-apart style w/ the steel button things and would break down really compact. The net it comes w/ is flimsy, but what do you expect for $65 complete? I thought it looked as sturdy as the other practice cages you see for $100 or so.

For all you guys complaining about nets tearing. Get over it! That's just a part of life in lax. A good net (4mm) by itself runs $100 or so, and even those will eventually rip. Remember last May's UVA vs UMass NCAA Final? One of those guys ripped the top corner on a shot, and I'm sure they were using brand new 4mm nets for the Final 4. Anything under 3mm is considered backyard practice quality and will quickly develop holes. Learn to deal. :bawling:
