i think i foun it out, on the original ones it would say c555 but now it says 7080 Sc. i kno the sc is scandium and i think when it has 7000 its aluminum, so now a new questoin: why is it different than the original and can i still get an original?

c555 is an alloy of copper and titanium i think. 7080 is an aluminum alloy made with scandium.
c555 is heavier and stronger, 7080 is strong but very light.

the problem with C555 is that it is a trademarked brand of Alcoa. It costs them quite a bit extra to use c555 or even the name. What they do now is use genric metals, 7075, 7080, etc. They can turn a better profit from this because they are paying less for their materials.

chsattack, thank you for explaining the differnce
and laxdevil, thank you for telling me why they changed.
now the last question of the thread: is the new optra lighter cause of the material or did brine thicken the walls and make it heavier?

i think the older ones are actually stronger than the new ones.
