I'm going to Sonoma this year with my club team. I'm going into junior year and play goalie, I'm on my club's second team (not the "elite"). I was wondering how benificial (sp?), if any, recruiting wise, it would be. The "elite" goalies in my club are seniors so I'm stuck on the second team. Any other tips for getting noticed as a goalie and how likely I get noticed at Sonoma are much appreciated.

the good thing is you're just going to be a junior. it's always good to get looks as soon as possible but with a good enough summer as a rising senior you can go pretty much anywhere. right now it would be a good idea to send letters or emails to coaches whose programs youre interested in. give them info about your "achievements" in lacrosse, stats from the season, who you have played for, and physical stuff like bench press and 40 yd dash (but that might not be as important for a goalie). you also definitely need to give them info about your grades. you won't have standardized test scores yet but the coaches need to know academic information so they can assess where you will fit into the admissions process at their school. hopefully if your letter is impressive you'll get some response from those alone.

Most college recruits only look at the "elite" team at tourney's. But, you should start the recruiting process sound to let them know your available!

College coaches do not look at only the "elite" teams at tourney's. What the majority do is have a list and go look at kids who are on that list. They make up these lists before the tourney even starts based on who they want or who has shown interest in them. Pretty much, they have a schedule that they follow based on who they're looking at, not what kind of team they are playing on.

do you play for starz?

i was going to play, but a lot of stuff happened and i wasn't able to.

i played last summer and went to the tourny at Sonoma.

i was on the elite team, but i'm pretty sure the coaches look at the jv team too.

The key to getting looked at at sonoma is to write all the coaches of schools you are interested in before you go. That way you are all ready on they're radar. If you dothat and just play your game some coaches will start talking to you.

I also went to sonoma last summer played for team calgary/hollywood I might be going this year to but we havn't decided yet its pretty lame
