black dye

i heard that if i tried to dye a head black, it would come out purplish. well i figured dying it black as many times as needed to get the black color would work but when you dye heads it gets flimsy. i want it to be dyed completely black, but i dont want it to become super flexy. any help?

dye it a dark color first. I like to use forest green or navy blue and then use the black dye. doing it that way get a very good and dark black. Doing only those two colors shouldnt weaken your head that much if at all. But to go from white to black straight would take 3 or 4 coats and that might make your stick weak. Hope that helps.
