NFHS rules:
Team B gets 7 one-minute NR penalties during the same dead ball. Team A immediately scores. Now what happens?

well, they're NR. they gotta stay 7-men up.
that's not very fair though, haha.

Sure, it's fair. Don't commit so many penalties!
But the question is really, how do we face off now? And there's something really funny about team B's players right now.

how does 7 one minute NR happen during one dead ball anyway? haha

haha...i was gonna say a big brawl, but those penalities would be way harsher than 1 min. NR.
and how come the other side didn't get ANY penalties?

they can't be 7-men up, dont they always have to have 3 men on offense and 4 on defense on all time.

Cant an attackman or dpole come up and take the faceoff as long as they dont cross the midfield line

They can under current NFHS rules. Under NCAA rules, you'd be right. I forgot to state explicitly that it was NFHS rules, but if you know both rule sets you can make the inference.
One way to think about it is that the players come off the field in the order: middies, defense, goalie, attack. So if you have 7 guys out on penalty, you have 3 attack and on one on the other side of midfield. If you have 8 out, you'd have 2 attack and no one else.

They're a bunch of choir boys? I don't know. It's an extreme example.
I could also have stated it with one penalty on team A and 7 on team B, all for 3:00 NR. That would happen if A1 and B1 were fighting and B2-B7 left the bench; all would be ejected.

You have to keep 3 guys on your attack end until you have fewer than 3 guys on the field. So the first positions to get pulled off are middies. If you're down 3 men, you play with a goalie, 3 defenders, and 3 attackmen.
Under NFHS rules, once you get below 7 players on the field, you start losing defensemen. If you have 6 guys out on penalties, you have 3 attackmen and a goalie. If you lose another guy, you play with 3 in your offensive end and 0 in your defensive end. At this point, the other team should be able to score quickly. :chuckle:

after a goal, 7 players run into a huddle and give a cheer that has profanity... so thats how you get to a 10 on 3 situation.
For the faceoff, there is a stipulation in the rulebook that says under certain conditions the goalies can face off. I remember talking about this in a meeting in January. Would this apply to this situation???

No, it would not. But it's a good thought.

Ok, I guess if they only had 3 players, they could bring all of them up to the face off, two guys on the wings would both be 'hot' and not able to cross the midfield line. Then, they would have to stay on one side of the field and leave the other side completely empty. They better hope they win the faceoff to kill some penalty time.
Right?

Right?
but then the attackman who is facing off would be starting offsides... (in his defensive zone)

you would face off backwards... duhhh.
But if no one can legally take the face off would it be a free clear? which would basically mean every 4 seconds team A would score. According to my calculations that would mean team A would score about... 15 goals.

That sounds about right. It would be interesting to see how fast you could score on an empty net from midfield. Shoot too sooft, it takes too much time. Too hard, and the ball goes OOB if you miss (but you'll get the ball right back).
As I see it, team B would not be able to face off legally and so would be guilty of IP. That means team A would get the ball after each goal.
Oh, BTW, one of the guys on the attack half of the field for team B needs to be a goalie!

I know this is just a hypothetical situation, but what would you do if you had to put 6 or 7 guys in the box? What if they were in for 3 minutes NR? Could you just call the game? LR, I dont know how you think these things up, but they are very interesting to ponder.

Good question, but deserving of another thread. I'll start one.
