Is there any problems with crosslace after you dye it with RIT dye?

They dye doesn't stay too good, and it bleeds out onto the mesh, head, etc.

Yup as Talent said. Plus some crosslace, sidewall, and topstring you get wont except dye to well. I currently have three spools. They will not take dye right.

It will bleed and it might weaken the strings. I wouldn't do it. Just buy some colored strings off Jimalax.

Are you guys just talking about throwing the lace in the dye bath? Because of course that will run.
Follow the RIT Dye instructions and put all of your shooters/mesh in the washing machine and it will work really good. Just follow all of the instructions for dying clothes.

im not sure, but im guessing that it will come off if it rains. That would be awesome though, have your friend do a diff color, and you see who can slap check the most people cause the colors will showup on their jersey, and at the end when you are all shaking hands you count how many have jerseys stained blue and how many have jerseys stained red.

im with cameron on this one, rit dye is a fabric dye so logically it should do well with the strings. and as warrior said you should follow the instructions for fabric.

I did it once with crosslace. It showed up, but not that dark. I never used it in the rain, so i don't know how it lasts.

The color will not be true to the dye color, but it will change to a lighter shade and stay permanent. and if you leave nylon in boiling hot water, the string can become stiffer because the nylon gets hot and starts to melt and bond together

just dye it a color then let it dry then soak it in vinegar for a little bit, the vinegar helps the dye stay on the lace.

it doesnt come off in rain any more than colored mesh fades after play. i have some dyed nylons that i threw in a dye bath as i dyed a head and they came out fine. the only thing wrong with them is what mrmcool said about them becoming a lighter color. this is true. when put in royal blue they came out light blue.
