I've played field a few years and for fun my teams joining a summer box league. Theres only 6 games, 1 every week, and no practices so its just for fun.

I have no goalie gear except for my field stick which I'll use in box. What do I legally need and what is the ABSOLUTE cheapest set I can buy. Also what is a good place to order online. All I have near me is sports authority.

you need kidney pads for sure the rest you probly already have, shoulder pads, slash gaurds, you might also want to get a piece of plastic in between your slash gaurd and your shoulder pads for cross checks. i think thats about it.

Please note that you're looking at nearly $1000 or so (BARE MINIMUM) for suitable box goal gear.

Shins - $200+
Chest and arms - guessing $400+
Pants - guessing $200+
Steel-toe shoes - $40
Goal jock - more important than a helmet! Guessing $50+
Facemask - use your field bucket+throat and save....it's good enough.

Is this a box chest?

It looks really tiny I think because thats youth small.
I know its probably horrendous crap but I make 7 bucks an hour. And I might only be playing 6 games with no practices in it.

Legs/Shins I guess

Pants

For the gloves I would use goalie superfreaks (I know horrible for box) be legal?

I have the helmet and throat and stick covered.

This would be it. Is there any SERIOUS flaws, missing pieces, or illegalness?

Thanks

dont stress too much about buying the best gear.
get the basics.

1)hockey goalie pant (pick them up used at play it again if you need to)
2)hockey gloves (dont go out and buy the Fury gloves or anything like that, some good solid hockey gloves with good wrist mobility work well.
3)leg protection.....I use Maxlax (http://www.goaliestore.com/maxlax/cat_display.php?catid=10). i know alot of guys up here use STX, and then theres Rebel which alot of Ontario guys use.
4)good shoes-I just use tennis shoes (havent borken a toe yet...yet)
5)hockey goalie athletic support (pick up at play it again)
6)uppers-this gets tricky, man. I spent 700 plus US on the Boddam uppers and I love them, they are worth every penny and the protection is brilliant!
I do not suggest you do that but on the bottom end, stay away from the Warrior crapola. Look at Max lax again (http://www.goaliestore.com/maxlax/cat_display.php?catid=7)
or do what alot of canadians used to do before this year, modify some hockey uppers. Just go to play it again and buy a hockey goalie chest protector and then buy some oversized football shoulder pads. Buy lots of electric tape and attach extra pads to your forearms and anywhere else you need.
I cant see the refs measuring you prior to the game and giving you 10.

good luck.
keep your stick low and parctice your 5 angles.

I would not recommend using your goalie freaks. They do not provide enough protection on the back hand and trust me, you will get hit there much often that in field. Go for some protective hockey gloves. See if you can borrow them off a friend who playes hockey.

Yup. LaX gloves are good enough for field, where you might take one off the hand every couple of weeks.

In box, you'll take one off the hand every few minutes, and plus maybe half a dozen times in warmup before the game even starts.

You want heavy hockey gloves. Fury or Eagle are the best, but anything heavy duty is an improvement over a lacrosse glove.

Same reason I also recommend steel toe running shoes.....I've had my big toenail turn black and fall off after being zinged once. I've spoken to ex pros who have been missing several toenails at once. Whatever....your choice, but if the guys in your league can shoot, it frigging hurts when you take one off the toes!

Yah the stuff you showed is good enough. But since your only playing a little bit try and find some used hockey goalie pants like diggory said. And dont use the goalie superfreaks the protection is not good for box. Get some good hockey gloves sicne you wont be playing that much only 6 or so games.

in my indoor league, the guys use only their field stuff, along with shin guards that the league owner (a goalie) provided for borrowing, and that seems to be all that is necessary. but then again, all the teams are basically just field teams that want to stay sharp, not really box players, so it might not be as intense as other box places.

ProBoss is a rip off.

Thing is, they have all the stuff. Right in the store. Being able to try stuff on and handle it before you buy it is well worth the few bucks you'd save by ordering it from a catalogue.
