Im confused, what do 2-2-2, 2-3-4 plays mean?

those numbers are the positioning of the offensive players in their offensive zone...if i understood u correctly.

i think it means 2-2-2: 2 people at x, 2 people around goal line to restraingin line, and 2 people up top, you cant have a 2-3-4, it would be too many people
