i was working at my grocery store this morning and a customer absolutely beamed me in the leg with a metal cart. I didn't feel a thing. I just realized both my legs are fully numb on the front.
Kind of nifty.
Anyone else have something like this?

Yes, I defanitely have a higher tolerance for pain since ive played goalie, now that I think of it.

Wow, that's so funny. I do the same thing with falling stuff. We goalies really are alike...

you could be a human bean bag chair and still play goalie.

I step in the cage and attackmen bow to me begging for goals before the game...not, the cat-like reflexes are the shiz though, and super pain tolerance...I'm still ticklish though

thats very un-true....the more in shape you are the better goalie you are. If your a over weight slug then you will have no chance at saving anything unless it hits your body. Thats of course if your not as big as the goal, but if your that big, then chances are you cant get out your bed to get to the field.

You forgot about the best advatage of all- having lumps on your legs all year round... and just as theyre going away I have a game today where I'll maybe get hit a few more times in the legs. I love calcium deposits

Tolerance for pain, toughness, reflexes, getting over fear of pain are good, but I like the acknowledgement I get for playing the toughest position on the field, from my teammates coaches and friends.

you all speak the truth and i cant find anything to add lol. One thing is that whenever i play basketball im not a shooter im a playmaker i see things you guys know what im talking about? I think i got that from playing goalie because we have the advantage of seeing the whole feild.

Someone/something would hit me in the leg and people would be like "that didn't hurt?" and you hjust say no. They are so impressed. Also having the reflexes and being able to catch something before someone can even get half way.

One advantage you guys missed is that everyone on your team sticks up for you like crazy. To prove a point...at the all star game last night #41 on USA dropped connor gill after he laid out the goalie.

Yeah, that was Polanco, after Tierny got laid out. That was such a cheap shot by Gill.

Nobody touches your goalie. That's def an unwritten rule. Someone messes with me, I get them back or one of my poles will.

I love the reaction I get from people who say "oh, you're a goalie?" Just a sign of respect.
I also love talking to other laxers (or hockey players) who marvel at the fact we generally have no regard for our own bodies, especially that we (again, for the most part) only wear a cup, chest protector and helmet. I cannot tell you how many times I've heard "you're one crazy SOB man!"

My reflexes are awesome. And my friends sometimes randomly throw things at me, when I'm not paying attention to see if I can catch them. It's kind of dangerous now that I think about it. Nothing like having a pencil coming at your eye.
Another advantage: glory. Sure it can go both ways. You can have a junk day where you couldn't stop a basketball, but the opposite days where you're doing everything right are just amazing. We hate to have our team play like garbage, but we love to be the person to bail them out.

true story!!! its like this challange now when stuff is falling and you get it and your like ''hell yea im nice''. my friends throw crap at me all the time just to see if they can hit me. best time was in gym when my fried points to something behind me and i turn around and as soon as i turn around he says ''think fast'' and as im turning around a basketball is coming at my face. one bloody nose later we decide that game is not allowed anymore...needless to say

not all the goalies get respect like you guys. this goalie on the west end jv team didnt get **** from his teamates because he wants to play goalie cause he didnt like to run and he is scared of the ball too. and because of him, i got pushed down to the gold team
