Ok so I strung myself up a traditional pocket 2 weeks ago. It seemed to be throwing pretty good until a little while ago. I ignored it. So today at my tournament I was throwing before a practice we had and my stick was throwing very inconsistent. One time it would go really high other times it would throw into the ground. It's really annoying. Normally I would restring it but I have the tournament again tommorrow so I can't. Is there anything I could do?

Do you have a backup stick?

Do you have pics?

did you stretch the leathers? stretching the leathers helps prevent bunching and thus inconsistant throwing. b/c of the high probability that i never look at this thread again, at least not before tomorrow by which time it'll be to late, to stretch leathers the most effective way, toss the ball and knife in there, soak the pocket in warm water, and pull the leathers tight around the ball. the tighter you pull them, the more stretched they will become. tie them off while they are wet and tight and let the pocket dry. if this is done effectively (it can take 1-3 times) your pocket will become more consistant and much lower matienence. it will stay perfect for as long as you keep it out of wet weather. good luck

Yeah I have a backup stick and I will probably end up using that.

As for the pics I can't find my camera right now. However I'll tell you whats going on. I have regular traditional. Three hockey laces going across. I used separate strings for each part of the pocket. The middle channel is a little wide. All my knots are done right. The pocket is pretty good size. Almost illegal. I don't really know what else to say. It has a decent amount of whip but that changes all the time as I said before.

Edit: Navyboy I did stretch the leathers.

Which way are your shooters on because if they are thicker on the side where the ball sits that could make it very inconsistent pics would help.

if the shotters are weaved, make sure that the bottom shooter isnt too tight. it will make it so that if you throw with good form it will throw good, but if you hang your stick down low, itll catch on that shooter and throw down or way up.

are your leathers real right, and your crosslace real loose so there is mad ball rattle or vice versa? if it looks like that you might want to consider restringing it. traditional is extremely hard to maintain at a barely-legal depth because tightening/loosening the leathers pulls the crosslace too tight or too loose.

Did your pocket get wet during the game? It has been raining alot in this part of the country.
