Yes, it would help make the pocket illegal. And yes, how tight the sidewalls are affect how it throws. The tighter they are, usually the smoother the release (in my experience). Also, its easier to get the right amount of whip you prefer.

or maybe not. how about we maintain the integrity of the only sport on earth left uncorrupted by money or fame or CHEATING.

tighten the sidewalls and try to throw with it. if it has to much or to little whip, ajust the shooters accordingly. dont listen to guys like midman and stay honest. lets keep lacrosse honorable and pure. learn the skill, not the shortcuts around needing it.

With that said, tighten your sidewalls and then pound that ******* till you get a nice bag that you and your newly-tightened sidewalls will be able to throw with.

To get the right amount of whip, I suggest tightening all your shooters, but not tying them. Throw with the stick. It WILL throw into the ground. Just keep going until you like how the stick throws. Then tie off your shooters.

Tightening the sidewalls will help to make the pocket not illegal. It will also make the pocket shallower than you are used to and it will throw slightly different because of this. All you need to do is adjust your shooters until it throws how you like. Tightening the sidewalls will also help to make the pocket and throwing more consistent and less likely to move around.
