What are club teams? I heard that schools like the University of Florida, Georgia Tech, and Virginia Tech all have CLUB teams. These are huge schools and great at other sports but are the big football schools down south good at lacrosse and who do other club teams play. Can u get recruited to a club team. Id love to go to college down south.

club teams are teams that are not varsity sports, you can't get a scholarship on a club team, but you can get recruited. they play all around the country, they have tournament, a champion, and they are very competitive teams.

check out the MDIA recruiting thread. there are good explainations of the differences and similarities between varsity (D-I, D-II, D-III) and club (MDIA, PNCLL...) It boils down to school financial resources, team funding, where the team fits into the structure of the school (atheltic dept or not..) and NCAA title 9 regulations.

yeah the best club teams are really good...they would probably be somewhere in the middle to upper middle of division three.

CSU took down most D2 teams they scrimmaged it more of a funding issue and the school, club teams have great tallent, and could compete against d1 hands down.

maybe not hands down.............the upper echelon of division A could probably do well against most D1 schools, on the other hand, there are some division B teams who would get whooped by numerous high school squads....not to mention that there are many many teams who fall in the middle. I personally play for a solid Div. B team, we made nationals and all, and I would say we are light years ahead of high school teams and some Div. A teams, however, we could not compete against CSU, BYU, Michigan, etc......These big schools recruit D1 quality talent.

i dunno man michigan played kenyon college who was a lower seed in the d3 playoffs and lost 15-10. that was more of a real game situation, you can't really take scrimmages that seriously. i think if csu or somebody was in D1 they would struggle a lot...they might compete in a couple games against places like robert morris and get absolutely murdered by hopkins cuse or even somewhere like harvard or denver. when michigan scrimmaged ohio state i think it was tied at halftime and then when ohio state apparently got a little more serious about it osu ended up winning 11-4 or something (shutting out michigan in the 2nd half). if the D1 teams wanted to win these scrimmages they would be real lopsided.
