View Full Version : My first dye job is complete

Well, I dyed my vector the other day, and I don't know what to think... I did the yellow first, and I think that came out perfect. I think the color came out good, the fades came really good, and the glue too. Now here is where my problem started. i used liquid denim blue, but I didn't know how much to use for the turkey pan thing I used, so I put in almost the full bottle. I think this was too much, b/c it came out purple. So I tried to dye it black, and it came out this dark marroon color. So, I figured I have nothing to lose, so I left it in the black overnight, and it just became a really dark marroon.
Well, I know most people aren't going to read that, so here are the pics.

So, apart from the colors being wrong, and the dye getting under the glue a little in the middle, I think it came out pretty good for my first ever dyejob.
Now, I know what I did wrong, so my next de is going to come out perfect.

For some reason the dye pattern makes me think of a t-shirt design. I definitely think you are on the right track though. Keep up the good work.

Thanks. If I want a some-what dark blue, how much water to liquid dye should I use? And also, how much black powder to water do I use for black?
If anyone views, please comment, I want some feed back.
Also if anyone has any ideas for my next dye job, post 'em
did you use the rit dye royal blue and rit dye golden yellow?

I used rit denim blue, and yes golden yellow.

haha i was about to do that same dye idea but with purple and pink....yeah im flamboyent(sp) its gonna match my purp klyte and pink 803 when i get em in. but nice first dye and yeah its hard to get the dye to water ratios right on first runs of the color.

I think it looks awesome w/ just 1 side. I don't know why though.

I don't think I'd ever be brave enough to dye or use sticks like those.
And, yeah, I had no Idea how much dye and water to use, so I guessed, and the yellow came out good, but the blue wasn't blue :sad: .

Yea that is really good for your first dye, and I still think that the colors look amazing, even if it wasnt what you wanted. The glued parts look realy random and not too much or not not enough (:nut:). But anyways, It looks good, nice job :yumyum:

well u can do the red white and blue, thats what i did for my first dyes, or like a green and black, red with a faded splattered black....uhhh hmmm checked stuff looks pretty tight too

nice dye job, ive never done one but im thinking about trying. i kinda like the glue on the half side only...ive never seen it before, nice touch.

thats looks good...i dotn completely agree with only half of it hot glued....but i think its just me i dont like vertical splits for desiegns (sp)
but besides that its sick...im waiting for my mcool dyeing dvd from e-lax to start dyeing
